I understand it is hard to get them and we should be happy to have them . But come on as far as I am concerned you are being paid to do a job these guys are not volunteers they are paid employees so therfor should be performing to a satisfactory level. I honestly believe we would be better off umpiring our own games then have some of these blokes . The old guy called Bob that did our 20/20 game on Sunday had two hearing aids and im pretty sure nodded off a couple of times. some of his decisions were disgraceful and little things like counting to six not the hardest thing to do for 20 dollars an hour I wouldnt think.I would like to say this is not taking anything away from Western Youth they won and the game was played hard and tough while in good spirits but come on I am asking us to all stand up together and demand better because this money is coming out of our clubs and could be spent on much more worthy things.I believe the ASCA is now in a great place where we have all worked hard to build strong succesful clubs and deserve better from our association so Russ or whoever sort it out before i get banned for life

Umpiring was terrible in our t20 game. No doubt about it. However, it doesnt excuse the behaviour of the morphy parks lads at the end of the game. That was as bad as i have ever seen.

Bob Harris (both umpires were named Bob), was terrible. There was a straight drive that bounced between 10m-15m inside the fence. I went to retrieve the ball which was close to the road after it had rolled. I picked it up, turned around and witnessed him signalling a 6. I ran up and said it bounced atleast 10m inside the boundary. He then said 'i asked you once what it was, you didnt respond so i called it a six". i replied 'pretty hard to here you when im chasing the ball that has rolled a fair way past the boundary. couldnt you hvae waited for me to return to the field an dask me again?". Bob replied " oh i didnt think of that"
The bloke has no common sense, he doesnt communicate one bit (neither does Fradd for that mtter). The umpiring standard is definitely dropping. An umpires report will be filled out for the t20 for sure, and the marks will not be favourable.

You are both completely correct. It is a ridiculous amount of money to pay a bunch of nuffies (ofcourse I am only speaking of a certain few umpires), who despite having a counter, have less idea on how many balls have been bowled in the over than the fielders do.

Hey everyone,

On Sunday, November 13, I have organised a day which includes 3 x twenty20 games - with the aim of raising awareness and much needed funds for the Haemophilia Foundation of Australia (please visit www.haemophilia.org.au for information about what haemophilia is) but I have struggled to fill the 6 teams, which were initially suppose to be filled with members from the PDCA and C&CCA so I would like to extend and invitation to members of all associations to partake in the games. There are 2 games starting at 11am and one to start at about 1pm - after the first 2 games finish. If you are interested in playing please contact me asap. There is also a facebook group 'bash4cash' and an event invitation going around on facebook too... even if you cant play, please try and get along to the ground (corner of South Terrace and Goodwood road, Adelaide) and support a great cause.

Thanks

In Round 1 we had Kevin Spencer in Section 5 and he did a very good job umpiring. We were very impressed as we didn't expect to have someone with as good a knowledge umpiring outside the top couple grades.

Our assumption was if this was the standard of a guy doing a low Grade game then the umpiring standard must be very good in the Association.

tips:

belair v coro: coro- i think these two bowling attacks are quite strong so this match will come down to which batting side values their wickets the most.

ramblers v sheidow: sheidow- their bowling attack got hit for a few runs last match but im predicting their spin bowlers to comeback strongly on the dene pitch. unless ramblers declare before the spinners are brought on. only kidding.

south rd v keswick: keswick- im tipping keswicks 3 best bats to click and post a large total.

wyc v plympton: wyc- whilst plympton have definitely improved, i think wyc batting will be too strong.

icc v cove: cove - ive never seen a boundary hit at hackham but i think one of the cove bats might get one to trickle across the line this match and that could be enough for a win. coves batsmen probably too good with more depth than icc.

ana v morphys: morphys - i can see morphys posting a decent total against ana if they dont bowl tightly and field well. but if they do theyll be right in there with a chance.

Morphys with ease
Icc - just
WYC
Coro
Keswick - just
Ramblers - only if they bowl second, otherwise they'll declare and give sheidow the win

tips:

belair v coro: belair - the comps new boys continue their rich vein of form on their home deck in a very very close game, flip of a coin here

ramblers v sheidow: ramblers - confidence gained from our 2020 win and depth get over the line. sam davenport to get a bag

south rd v keswick: keswick- keswicks batsman finally get it together

wyc v plympton: wyc- wyc, more quality players

icc v cove: cove - match of the round here. i reckon sharks will get up, got no clue why i cant really split them. gut feeling i guess

ana v morphys: morphys - very impressed with some of the fresh faces out at morphy parks. not relying on the brokenshas for runs anymore. franceschini looks a find. ana too much reliance on basso and rowe

SAMCA CUP T20 @ Plympton Oval from 9am Sunday.

Come down and have a look, bar facilities will be open (prob start to crank up from about 10). Prices are always pretty bloody reasonable.

BBQ will fire up fron 10am with bacon & egg sanga's, we'll get the steaks on a bit later.

Should be a good day PLYvWYC, BELvANA, followed by the two winners playing off.

Well played Sharks in our 2020 today, we didnt bowl accurately enuf and a couple of their big hitters got away from us. pretty entertaining game to be apart of. what wasnt so pleasing was the report from one of my teammates of the constant torrent of abuse he copped fielding on the boundary by the sheidow boys. he couldnt tell me who they were as he didnt know any of their names but i trust it wasnt any of the sect 1 lads and was other supporters. that would be extremely disappointing as the abuse is completely unwarranted and reflects badly on the sect 1 team. some of whom i played district with and others who are genuinely good blokes. i hope its just a few bad apples and not something that is endemic to the sect 1 team.

To add to that i must say well played to the sheidow boys yesterday, kept up the pressure all day and held all of their catches. consistent bowling combined with undisciplined batting equals a pretty low score. well bowled to roy (dont know his last name) who hit the deck hard and got the ball to jag away nicely.
