Big call mate . But def true going on form the last two years chocked both times its only going to get harder for them by the sounds of it . Loosing some important players .

Interesting. Choked ?

Against Sandy Creek 2 years ago, definitely.

Last year ? Wow....How can you say a side choked when they backed up and made their 4th Grand Final in a row after losing players of the quality of - Jimmy North, Adam Ozolins, Andrew Parkhouse, Shane Nobes and Rocco Illuminato. I guarantee any side in the comp wouldn't make the finals after losing 5 players of that ilk. Silly comment.

G'day Rollsy, don't you know that the word choked now means "lost a game"

Not many from the Bs had ripping years really. DJ McIntyre was the best bat by a long way with others just chipping in really. Clint Medcraft was the most dangerous bowler, and would be an opener in grade 1 at other clubs. Craig Thomas was handy with both bat and ball and there as talk of him getting an A grade game at one point. Most others didn't string together performances enough, and really that's the only reason they didn't make the finals. I think in the same format next year, the same team woud make the finals and give it a shake. Reality says that we'll lose players from both A and B grade as we do every year. The challenge for those 16/17/18 year olds is to stand up next year. I predict that in 10 years the B grade from last year will be more or less the core of our A grade.

Don't know enough about grade 1 to pick a best of grade 1 side in all honesty. It would be a massive shock to me if Chad Mac was the best keeper/batsman last season. Had a few good contributors which was the big reason for success last year. The Sewells had good years (Steve had the better one, so would be picked ahead of Jake based only on last year), Tyson Creek made important contributions, and I think got 6 wickets in the semi from memory. Fortu Costanzo showed his talent at 40 odd coming back from grade 5 at another club, and blasted a 90 off 40 balls one day. Billy might remember some of his big hits, because I think I heard he hit a couple of towering sixes against you guys. Justin Davies, Johnny McInness and Miles Picton were a little down on their best for much of the year and a couple of other guys were in and out a bit despite actually doing pretty well from time to time. Really, the side was held together by Caff, Scott Mac and Leigh in the main. Those 3 would surely have to be picked in a "best of" side and probably none others from Westies. Steve Sewell would be the next best performer IMHO. 500 runs for the season I think.

And yes, we have had some dissapointments in grade 1 grannys. We should have won at least 2 IMHO, and last year while we were the outsiders had the game in our favour in the run chase. The flag we won was actually a tied flag when Jenner threw his wicket away 15 runs from the victory and rosies lost 5/15 to tie a flag they should have won 5 down.

Going over the season a win and a draw for sals west against two wells one wouldve thought you had the measure of them until the big GF and a score the westies had chased comfortably all year against TW. IMO i thought you guys had it covered

Definitely had the game on our terms. The guys who were set should have steeled themselves to do the whole job themselves. In a GF it's amazing how the bowling team can put pressure on a new batsman, especially the middle/lower oder. 2/150 turns into 190 all out so easily sometimes.

Ditto. I was playing the D grade granny on the big ground (bit ironic, eh?) and thought we had 3 flags for the taking.

Higher grade captain. C grade chose to play on their home ground, which was the smaller ground. Some grade 4 players were a bit miffed they got the little oval from what I gather. Thought they would bomb sixes all day long! We just made the main ground a little smaller because we're a bit old and slow to defend something that big!
