and heard Smithfield have picked up Ray Bickle?

isn't he from smithfield

from Playford...

Bickle was from Smithfield originally. Got an A grade game as a 14 y.o back in 03/04 as we had an injured keeper and saved the day with a 30 odd batting at 11. Has a pretty impressive record in Grade 2 over the past few years with the bat.
Apparently Macartney never even signed at Craigmore, a deal went on that he was unaware of. He too played at Smithfield before going to Playford, he didn't want to play any higher than D's with Smithfield as he had a few mates in that grade, we had a very young D grade then. Tim always showed promise with us but has come a long way with age out at Playford.

So is there any confirmed signings or departures from any clubs? Plenty of speculation going around. I know Smithfield have 4 possible very handy signings, I wont hold my breath though, could go either way from here.

not sure if the clearance side of the world has started to happen out at The Lodge but i would imagine a few new faces especially in the A Grade ;)

Jimmy will be at R & C 100%. Unless Collingwood lose on friday night. He might off himself and not play for anyone.

No we had plenty of interest, but no-one could commit.
With that... a slight deflection to the next topic!

I heard Smithfield FC have gone into liquidation/bankrupt and there is a strong possiblity Eastern Park will take over the oval, if so would this impact cricket at all?

dont think the Panthers will be going anywhere
plus if they did fall over there would be no way known that the council wouldnt be carving it all up and extending the shopping precint - prime real estate

Not allowed to mate, there was a clause when the land was donated by the Smith family that it must ALWAYS be used for recreational use. The council did offer to build new facilities in the mid 90's IIRC next to the North Lakes Golf Course, at that stage Anderson Walk was going to be like Salisbury's John St, the motion never went anywhere obviously.

Just out of interest, what's the going rate that's offered for when recruiting Grade 1 players. It's an interesting debate on what prospective players think would be a fair deal or not.

Yeah, no doubt they'd find some clause in there, I found a cricket premiership photo from the early 1920's and 10 of the 11 players were Smith's.

Another recent suggestion was to re-locate us to where the new estate on the corner of Main North & Craigmore Rds are.

You are right though, we wont be falling over.
