Plus ball fees?

200 that's it for the year, no weekly ball fees

Could've sworn you told me it was more than that at the end of last year ;)

Suppose you have to make it affordable for all those "financially reliable" blokes you have playing like Matt Justice

Heard out of the ATCA game that "Lord Rocco" was trying to recruit players for next year (during the game mind you) for when Pooraka are up in Premier League.

I know they are dominating A2 atm but would hope they are not thinking too far ahead and concentrate on each week as it comes

They are home, don't worry about that!
Pooraka and Unley are a clear 1 and 2 in this grade, they play each other in Round 9.
Pooraka are already 13pts ahead, and are going to push further ahead with a win this week thanks to the massive bonus points they will get from scoring over 500 after being sent in.
The two sides play 5th and 6th in Round 8, so will likely score a similar amount of points, meaning Pooraka is 15pts up going into the last game against unley. Even if Pooraka lose, they'll likely hold top spot, meaning they are into A1 already.
If Unley somehow pip Pooraka for top, they should easily account for any of Para Hills, Ingle Farm or Woody South to make the GF and get into A1 anyway (Assuming Unley win their semi).

I wouldn't back them at 20s to miss A1 next year!

There have been a lot of runs scored in the LO's this season. Specifically there are a number of batters over 500 runs and a few over 600 runs after round 13 (helped with the lack of wash/heat outs). What the chances of seeing 1000 run season by these blokes, and when was the last time it happened if anyone knows?

One thing I did forget to mention is that money was on the offering to the players spoken to on Sunday, how much money is down at Pooraka at the moment with Illuminato, Stolcman, Bailey, Jarrett. Surely (other then Jarrett) they are not playing for the love of the club.

Don't think he has a valid one.

We don't care about what anyone outside of Pooraka thinks of Pooraka.

This year our goal is to win every game and finish top, get into A1 and play well up there. If a couple of guys are payed, so be it, Grange doesn't offer drink cards to their players and they seem to do OK. You have clubs that don't pay for players (AHOS etc) and good on em, they can do as they please. I don't get the gripe people have with players getting paid. Maybe they are just annoyed or jealous.

Illuminato was doing the right thing in trying to get some players to the club.. I spoke to him and its not like he was running around throwing invites left right and center.

Got to keep recruiting. If Pooraka or any other club go to A1 next year, or even stay as they are, you can still improve. A club or team that does not recruit or just stays still, is one that is going backwards.

Should be the job of every club, coach and key players to make their team stronger as each year progress, via whatever means is necessary. If clubs can afford to play players then good on the club and the players. Players are deserving to be played in sport, and if clubs can afford it then great. Some people think that players should not be paid. Crap. Good on the club and player if they can pay and the players receive a fair payment. Times have changed and good on the players who do get paid. If Rocco or any other player recruits players to Pooraka or any other club then good on him. Got to keep improving and those who stay still go backwards

This will be interesting..
There has been some strong words by Rainbow Warrior and co over the years that they do not pay and never will, including the additional joy of winning an A1 flag over a "known" player paying club...

Are you suggesting this is not true Heater ???

I can only go on what my former team mate has told us. His story is that he has received remuneration for his playing services at AHOS this season.

Every year in ATCA except last year Top team goes through and the Grand final winner, if the top team plays in the GF, whoever they play against will automatically go up.

Last year they re shuffled the grades from 12 to 10 so only 1 team went up and 4 or 5 went down from each grade.

I assume you are talking about Banners. If he is getting paid it isnt coming out of club funds that much I can guarantee. I was treasurer for about 7-8 years and in that time we never paid anyone, maybe waived subs occasionally but no player ever received payment. If he is getting something would be from an individuals pocket that is all.

I never said noone has ever been paid, when I first came to the club I was offered incentives and received remuneration if I pushed the matter however what I ahve said is in my 7 -8 years I was treasurer no player was ever paid at least not out of club funds. I am no longer treasurer this year but my employee is and he could only be getting paid by an individual (ie out of coaches remuneration or another persons pocket) not club funds. I will stand by that comment.
