Risdon have always wanted to play at Port oval from day one, secret meetings / sponsorship? what the?

At Sky Pilot I don't think it is the cricketers that don't want to play at Port oval, I think it is more the higher ups in the politics game. Good thing I could care less about the politics, I just want to play....

Interesting comment about playing politics. I would be very interested for you to follow through on that comment of "the higher ups in the politics game" Loose comment if you can't back it up with some evidence that it is happening.

3 b grade teams are concerned about playing on port oval, fine dont schedule them to play on it.

that leaves the 5 a grade teams to put it to a vote, and if ur math skills arent that good that would mean it would be 3 for playing at port 2 against, done, problem solved!!!!!!

Quick one before a hard day at the office. Figures are not correct, you mention 3 b grade teams, you failed to consider that 2 a grade clubs who voted nay have b grade teams so there would be 5 teams not playing there. One point i thought may have been picked up on and i checked with my delegate. Reported on this forum the voting was 5 to 3 to accept the program. Told it was a vote that they could all vote on including the officials so it seems three people did not vote. I was told who they were and i can only guess but i reckon the tally would have been 6 for, to 5 against accepting the original program. The losers would have had to accept the first program. Very interesting.

In a rush, meant "5 to 3 not to accept the program"

yeh your not understanding what i meant, i mean if pt germain, strykers warnertown dont want to play on port oval then simply dont put them in the program to play there, then their concerns are being taken care of, and what i mean by that is then they wouldnt be able to vote about teams playing there because it doesnt effect them, not letting them vote may not be able to be done because of the constitution, im not sure. however if the program had been changed to just have props sollies wandearah southport and risdon playing on port oval i wonder what the vote would have been then 6-2 for playing there?

the whole issue is pathetic

does it sound right to you sky pilot, clubs wont play at a venue because they lose too much money? or does it sound like theres some hidden reason why they dont want to play.

The way I see it is that Ports Oval is highly regarded as the best turf wicket north of Gepps Cross. The PPCA should be breaking their necks to programme games there every Saturday arvo regardless. Anyone who can't see that is allowing outside influences interfere with common sense. If there are issues with licensing stuff and who has the biggest hot dogs etc then just work through it. Dissenters should be told to sit down, shut up and just get on with it. Or they could appeal to the Qantas baggage handlers to offer them some advice as to how it should be resolved!

If there were no politics why would Port Germein refuse to play at Port oval? They don't even sell piss for crying out loud, I bet they were convinced during the "secret meeting". As whichgrade said, those 5 clubs came to agreement where they would support the No port oval and double up rule.

Maybe some clubs should try and get sponsorship for themselves and not make the PPCA get sponsorship. I am pretty sure we all know a few business owners in the town.....

What I do find funny is, clubs lose $80 a week from not being able to sell booze at Port oval, yet council rules say you can not sell booze at Memorial oval. If I see any clubs selling alcohol at Memorial oval I will ring the police!

I believe so, I think police have to set an example so I expect that officer would stop them selling alcohol, either way the police will be notified.

Looking from afar Sky Pilot I would say Pirie cricket may be in trouble in years to come If clubs rely on selling booze and hot dogs at games to make ends meet.
What would have happened if the Port oval clubs stood up to the bully clubs and refused to play them at other venues? I know I would have.
The logical solution would have been a home and away scenario. It happens in every other comp in the state but not Pirie.
Props and Sollies play away vs wand and south at the port oval and in return wand and south play props and sollies at their "home" ground. Why should wand and south play props and sollies 3 or 4 times a year at their venue of choice. Come up with a reason why this couldnt have been done.
Im sorry but this paints Pirie in a poor light its laughable.

Very simple BW & SP and I agree 100%. Dont wait for a response to your sensible suggestions, they wont answer, there is no logical reason why not!
Just like their 'complaint', no-one has explained how they make $100 to $140 from the sale of BEER during games- its just not true. Most times you have to take drinks out to sollys at the break as they have no-one there and BS mob only usually have Holly and he doesnt drink.
I hope Ports or Solly fc dont decide they want to sell beers at the footy, or dont want to play in PA as the bus costs them $- what goes on then?
I agree it is laughable for Pirie and most of their players agree- ask the Fuchs/Hayes boys and see their response.
No stress though, Wand & SP still get half their games at Port (& Risdon now which they seem happy about!) & it does make it much easier to recruit any new players in town! :)

If TBO and SkyPilot are dinky dye outsiders they may not appreciate the issues. GtG's would hardly know the business of the other clubs, he just continues to sing the club song. The BS mob? Fuchs boys? Hayes boys? They belong to a club and would have had a voice. Obviously not all agreed. Do football club members take booze to the footy? I'm sure they do. Who is licensed at the footy ground? Lions maybe. Hope you call the cops to the footy, squids. No stress though? Lot of noise for nothing then. BS has picked up the baton. Does BS mean bigstack this time. Sorry for having similar views as another poster, ok for you bad for me. Dark horse for combined wicky, Matt O'shaughnessy. Have a good break Gtg's

The shed you buy beer from at the footy would have a licence I would assume. Footy clubs take beer to the footy but they do not sell it which is the issue.

Sorry I can't make calls to our club delegate during the day, I am sure he has more important things to do at work than talk to me.

I don't get how:

$500 sponsorship
+$60 for subs from say 25 guys ( = $1500)
= $2000

Is not enough for a club to run.
