News coming out of Compass is the emergence of Rhys (Garfield the Cat) Couzens with his highest score for his club on Saturday. 83 of the best from a true gentleman & a wonderfull cat lover. Looks like the pressure is certainly being applied to those batsmen in Maroons & Golds. Well Done Garfield!!!! ;)

S&B, Like Pongy's attitude towards fielding an A Grade side you are soooo far of the mark. Two completely different people from two completely different clubs. Funny stuff though, keep up the good work S&B. Mr Teachinator is not a bad name. Someone should use that.

Shake n Bake wrote:So now you're talking to yourself and also pumping yourself up.... weird one mr teachinator reeks of insecurity and vanity to me...  :?
Two teams who talked themselves up the most on this forum last year = goolwa and districts... where did they finish...?? Keep it up!

MrTeach wrote:Yeah we rolled Goolwa for 115 with an exceptional bowling performance from all McLaren bowlers. I seem to recall someone saying a few pages back that mcLaren do not have any bowling power? very poor comment.

Goolwa bowled well though too having McLaren reeling 8 down but some confident batting from Galletly got them home. Another great sign for Mclaren was the return to form of Ifould, he looked awesome and really took a liking to the bowling of McDonald it was great to watch. he was dismissed by one of the best catches i have ever seen by Andy Evans and that is no exageration.

any other results

Good result for you boys Mr. Teach! I think it was no coincidence that Ifould's lack of runs and wickets has been a major factor in Mclaren's early season form. When he is up and going, McLaren's is a much better side! What happened to Mark 'Bruno' Natale?? A week or so ago everyone was so excited at the prospect of the former club legend fulfilling his massive potential, but no game this week?

Those of you that think i am the same bloke as sherminator is hilarious. but maybe i might have to meet this sherminator bloke. S&B never talks sense so it is very difficult to take anything he says seriously

Thats a good point Rocky, but I guess having such a young A grade captain there are going to be times where mistakes are made. It is a brave decision from your club but I'm sure Andy will learn with experience and be a better captain in the long run. Captaining any side for the first time, especially A grade, there is going to be a steep learning curve. I don't know Andy but I am sure he will learn a lot throughoout the year which will benefit him as a captain and Goolwa as a cricket club.

C'mon Sherminator, Evans bowled 29 overs in a day. That is a classic case of "HUNGRY" or it is a "LACK OF FAITH" in your fellow team mates. Either way some people playing for Goolwa would be asking if they are a "Player" or a "Sponsor" for Goolwa CC. Wonder how many A graders call it an early break for Xmas this week, they must be thinking that they're not really needed, by the looks of things. This looks like a case of why a bowler should never be a captain.

I think u will find that Evans actually approached his experiened team mates in Bailey and Spurling and they told him to continue bowling. This wasn't his decision, he was told to keep bowling as he was bowling well. 4 for 86 off 29 i think is a good effort on a quick goolwa oval. Fielding was the reason that match was lost not because of the bowling.

he may have been told to keep bowling but that decision was the wrong one and as captain he makes the calls. senoir players can sugest things but the buck stops at andy. perks of being a captain.

Exactly right Ferret... who would of thought Aldinga and Pt Elliot would be 1&2 at Christmas!!! But the big test for these 2 sides and every side comes after xmas!!!

I think the only side that has "under achieved" would be Goolwa, for the talent they have in that side and to be 2-5 and equal bottom is terrible. Somethings need to change dramatically after Xmas or this will be yet another season where Goolwa have nothing to show for it.

Compass Gold have had a shadow of the side they had last year in the GF and therefore i think they are about right, if they start to get their players back they will be a big show come finals time.

The competition this year is so close and any team could still make finals, will be very interesting to see how the season goes. How are clubs sides looking for the 20/20 comp? Are sides going to be filled with mainly A Grade players or are teams going to field a wide variety of different players?

Well summed up Jimmy. I think you're spot on! At the start of the year I would have thought Golds and E-Bay would hold the top two spots with a bit of a dog-fight between Willunga, Goolwa and McLarens for 3 and 4 with Aldinga not too far off. It's great to see such a competitive competition this year and to see Elliot do so well!

As for Meyer Shield, my side would be (assuming availability)...

1 Peek
2 Edwards
3 B. Garrard
4 Bailey
5 Connor (w/k)
6 Spurling
7 Lintern (c)
8 Moller
9 Butler
10 J McMillan
11 K. Schofield

12 Bodie Wilson

Jake a bit controversial, but being a left-armer adds a little bit of variety.

Are you a selector sherminator? At port elliot we have bowled sides out all year yet no room for Johnstone, ellis. kuss, goldsmith or hamish robertson.Tim has also batted well enough to be considered, not to mention his fielding. i would not even consider people who have made themselves unavailable in the past. my team is ..
1. T. Clarke
2.R.Edwards
3.B.Garrard
4.A.Evans vc
5. L.Bailey
6.C.Lintern
7.S.Connor wk
8.L.Spurling
9.J.Kuss
10. B.Duncombe
11.C.Butler
12. k. schofield c non batting member

red baron even though some of those blokes u mention are good bowlers you might find the bowlers that Sherman mentioned are ones that can do a bit of batting and bowl over 110 kmph!
