Went all the way to seaton to see this action and yep a golden duck was the outcome!

Was one of the unluckiest Golden Ducks you've ever seen.

He was however the 'Game Changer' in the 3rd and final game when he smashed a boundary that went like a rocket and when brought into the attack with the ball, delivered a wicket with his first nut. This guy is an impact player! 8)

In the main game Lutheran got 168 and we scored about 130ish chasing the runs. Well batted to junior Borgas batting through the innnings and making 80ish im guessing.

Gotta say as knackered and delicate as i feel right now it was pretty good playing with players who normally play c and b grade and who you normally dont get to play with.

yes, I'm quite sore after 80 overs of cricket!

Was a fun couple of games today and even I would admit that Clarke's 47 from about ten balls was a highlight. Fantastic batting!
Saturdays game was maybe comprehensive on paper but a few things went our way that could have easily gone the other way. Good to see some new faces to our comp and even an old one. Used to play against Hendo. Maybe 10 or 12 years ago when he was lining up for croyden.
Oh and thanks for the beer cougar, i will enjoy cracking that one open while listening to some soft music alone in my room ;)
Ok off to fill out an insurance claim now

uote="Cougar"]I too will sleep well tonight Auto

From today

Para Vista def Seaton
Rose Park 3/81 def NEK 80

Rose Park 8/146 def Para Vista 95

Think the day's highlight was Jeff Clarke's assault on the PV bowling attack. Kept the crowd entertained with a couple of monster sixes including one onto the Seaton Club rooms

Yesterday Para Vista gave Rose Park a pasting. From 0/56 after 13 overs Rose Park were poised to put up a formidable total, but from there, no partnerships were built and Marshall and Maxted bowled very well for PV. With a small total, Rose Park needed quick wickets and while man of the moment Clarke got another 3 for, the runs were easily chased down. J.Smith showed us why he's considered by some 'the best bat in the comp', and Tarca and Marshall completed the job. Cheers to Marc Cossens and his crew for joining us for an ale after the match, albeit a very oddly named beer. ;)[/quote]

good to see fitzroy stick around for a beer on saturday ???????? oh wait , no they didnt game finished and by the time we put away our gear they were gone......
what happened guys. game was played in good spirits ? close game at that, and then were gone........
dont expect us to buy a beer at your club guys.
but thanks for the game
dont know what the last two batsmen in was thinking..you had the game won easily....
unless maybe you guys dont want to win (going by pidges tips) thought it wasintereseting watching your batsmen leave the ball with 6 runs to win off the last over ? why would you leave it without playing a shot or hitting the ball for a single only .
stumped me guys but it honestly looked like they did not want to win in the last two overs.........imo.

Must say I was baffled when I spoke to Pete Atkins about this game yesterday and he said they needed something like 15 off the last 9 overs but couldn't do it? He said some of the last overs bowled were maidens? Wouldn't you go down swinging or do the Fitzy lads have zero confidence in the permanent No.11 batsman they have out there?

interesting in the least mate,
even if not confident in PIDGE BATTING AT 11 , YOU STILL HAVE TO HAVE A GO.
when you think about it it was only 4 runs in the end. a good edge, even a miss hit......
but when the number 10 comes out and shoulders arms to the first ball with 2 or three overs to go with 12 to win ?????
then they dont run on easy singles or decide to block ? maybe reading to much into it . but at least have a go.....
but now we are on the board and looking to add a few more wins to our belt........ good game , but funny ending.
thats cricket I suppose

Mate we preach a pretty strong club culture that if you finish early make an effort to get to the B grade or C grade game, especially if theyre in the balance, which was the case....and yes game was played in good spirits.

Was hard to watch the last few overs smasha. The 2 lads batting at the end have both had the last coupla years off and are pretty scratchy to say the least and combined with a bit of pressure they struggled to get bat on ball. At the end of the day though there were many things that could be put up as reasons why we lost, not least having you 8/92 and through some good batting and average bowling/fielding you making 150. Dont think most teams would be happy with that. Well played to you guys and not so well played to us, looks like we are in the poo now and it will take a monster turn around to make finals from here.

Auto you sexy sexy beast of a man! I had that exact convo with Pidge yesterday its a long way back from 0-3 but he is still adeiment you guys will make the 4 (Yes this coming from the guy that hasnt picked you guys once  )

I was very surprised that super was played in the B grade. Yes i understand he was due to play school cricket and it was called off but surely looking at the prospect of starting at 0-3 and a long way back as oppossed to being 1 and 2 and still in the mix I would've thought the minute he was made available he would of been put in the A grade????

Unless there is more to it?

Nah no more to it....when he was unavailable we picked 3 full sides. Couldnt then tell someone they had to miss a game when super became available. Late on Friday night or coulda been Saturday morning someone pulled out and Super stepped in. Gotta say our batting line up against NEK was fairly strong but the application shown by those batters was piss poor.

Fitzroy, the St Kilda of C&CCA...?!?? :?

Made it to the Big Dance last year, but start this season off unable to win a game?? All we need is Ricky Nixon take over the Presidency and you can replace 'Lions' with 'Saints'... :P

Just on the feats of J.Clarke yesterday, he was without doubt the match winner. The first 10 overs PV were well on top, but 4-5 overs of VERY clean hitting just turned the match on it's head, then when he added the scalp of Cossens early on with the new nut in his hand, it was was going to be a long way back for a PV line up not quite at full strength. Not taking anything away from Rose Park though, they thoroughly out-played PV and deserved the win, but the likes of Hodson & Maxted would've made a significant difference if they played. But they didn't.. ;)

All the best in the semi, Cougar & team. 8)

Although helps there cause being a 6 team div with top 4 playing finals, you would be pretty disappointed as a club if you missed out..
