Huuuge loss after he pretty much single-handedly got them into A1.

Big loss. Similar situation to us when we went up. Can only hope everyone can pitch in to cover his absence.

i think it is sad that clubs have to throw around big coin to secure the services of cricketers just to play , every club at some stage would try and recruit to improve there lists , but with some of the figures getting thrown around these days, the question would have to be asked is it worth the short term success that this may bring vs the long term survival of your club

Pasted from the Ingle farm forum but relevant to this discussion...

Unfortunately community cricket as a whole has changed dramatically over the years if you believe some of the stuff you read on here and different competition forums.
The amount of money that gets mentioned just blows me away and reality is if true will continue to create disloyalty.
What I find extraordinary is people that look for coin well beyond their abilities.
Certainly not saying Scotty is in that basket as he can seriously play.
What Pooraka will learn is that cricket is not Scott's highest priority in life so expect some missed games and spasmodic training.
Hopefully this does not cause too much unrest with blokes that are playing for the club and getting stuff all..

Ingle Farm have been burn't one too many times now in trying to "keep up with the Jones's" and probabaly now need to go back to looking after their loyal own people.
If this sees them drop away a bit, then as disappointing as it will be, I am sure it will make the club a better place to be in the long run...

If getting a few hundred bucks to play cricket is a major priority for people then that is their call..

So if your not talking about an excessive payment for a player like Jeff Vaughan who was at your club for a short term success and your not having a go at recruiting players, which clearly you are, then what was your point again?

you are not the sharpest tool are you ? Not that i need to explain myself but i will dumb it down for you the best that i can, jeff didnt get excessive money, as i stated before, not everyone is money orientated, and would more than likely still be playing for us if he didnt get the job at the redbacks

B & S you're the last bloke that should be coming on here taking the moral high ground considering your track record!! Clubs should actively recruit to try to better their club, but unfortunately sometimes that attracts the blokes that will only hang around for a year or two, happily take the money, and when something is taken away from them (c), they spit the dummy and look elsewhere!! With all the clubs you've been at, surely you would have seen a lot of hard working guys and girls that rock up every week, do all the behind the scenes stuff, and never ask for a cent. They are club people and you should take a leaf out of their book!! I hope Gawler Centrals don't go through the same dramas that Ingle Farm have because of you!! Maybe season 2012/13 you'll be at Pooraka, I hear they have some money and a red cap would mix up the colours on your hat rack!!
