Eagles2014 wrote:Grade cricket draw for this season on My Cricket now. Had quick look and noticed couple of things:

1. Looks like the One Day comp is over 4 matches (first two as part of 2 day comp, then two other matches on Sundays).
2. 20/20 comp has top 8 like the One day comp, instead of top 4.
3. Draw been moved around all over the place, not moved forward two weeks like normal.
4. Playing on Dec 23rd which is close to Xmas Day.
5. Interesting the final round is a 2 day game, thought they always finished with 1 day game so teams could not set up fake outright wins to make finals, don't like this one at all!

No clash with Premier League which winds up Oct 8 the week before season starts which is good.

I don't mind the two day finish. Gives more teams the chance to make it and no team will just roll over to let a side beat them. A spirited outright win by the bottom team over the team in 4th could save a coaches job or keep a player in the ones the next season. 23rd is late but you can't have 3 weeks off mid season. Like the extra final for T20's as well given its such a hit and miss format.

Packing in the Sundays for the A Graders! Sun Oct 29, Sun Nov 19, Sun Nov 26, Sun Dec 10 - four out of 7 weeks. Luckily there's fewer senior players with full time jobs or families nowadays....

Only one game between Nov 18 and Jan 20 where all four senior grades finish on the same day. Good luck to clubs trying to organise after-match presentations!

Under 19's playing on the same day as their clubs for one dayers is surely a mistake? The first two rounds the U/19s play on different days.

Don't think so. Isn't the National Championships mid December again?

It is but that shouldn't make any difference

Round 1 - Sat Oct 14 (the Under 19's play on Sun Nov 5)
Round 2 - Sat Oct 21 (the Under 19's play on Sun Nov 12)
Round 3 - Sun Oct 29 (Clash - Under 19's on same day)
Round 4 - Sun Nov 19 (Clash - Under 19's on same day)

I think it's just a mistake, otherwise all four would clash. The Twenty20 matches are all on separate days. Unless they're running out of days? These are the Sundays:

Sun Oct 15
Sun Oct 22 - Redbacks league
Sun Oct 29 - Round 3 of Grade Cricket one day competition
Sun Nov 5 - Under 19's play their Round 1 one dayer
Sun Nov 12 - Under 19's play their Round 2 one dayer
Sun Nov 19 - Round 4 of Grade Cricket one day competition
Sun Nov 26 - Grade Cricket has a Saturday/Sunday fixture

Under 19 championship is Dec 4 to Dec 14

Sun Dec 3 - Adelaide Test / Under 19's are away
Sun Dec 10 - Under 19's are away
Sun Dec 17 - Under 19's back but will be cooked by then
Sun Dec 24 - Christmas
Sun Dec 31 - New Years
Sun Jan 7 - Grade Cricket has a Saturday/Sunday fixture
Sun Jan 14
Sun Jan 21 - One day quarter finals

So maybe that is it. They've simply run out of days. Unless they play one of the Under 19 matches on Sun Oct 15 and the other on Sun Jan 14 there's just no space for them to be separate.

This is just so dumb. If either the Saturday/Sunday fixture on Nov 25/26 or the one on Dec 9/10 was scrapped and replaced by a standalone one day match that counted for both competitions then this wouldn't be a problem.

I think it would be a combination of not many available sundays, but also the first 2 rounds of the one day comp also count towards the 2 day comp so teams would be relucant to let their kids go and not be able to field full strength teams. For rounds 3 + 4 it is easier to play the 19s on the same day as there's no lower grades playing so clubs wont be left short of numbers

Seems stupid to me. Sturt play the U19s in the fourth one day game. They could have Connor Dudley and Tom O'Connell play for Sturt in the first two rounds then against them in the last round - in the same competition.

Don't the SACA 19s have an unwritten rule that you play for your club if you are scheduled to play them?

Don't know but there was also an unwritten rule that their matches don't clash with grade games and that seems to be gone!

Yep, clubs get priority but I think it's also expected they pick them as well.

So will clubs get first choice on those two weekends? Or will players have to play for the U19's in preference?

Clubs will get first choice. If they don't pick them SACA can but if a kid isn't getting picked by his club against the 19's he's probably not worth the time.

The U19s will field a pretty garbage team in those last two one dayers then. Good luck for the teams that draw them.

They'll have picked their final team by then probably though so I'm tipping SACA will want to play their final team as preparation for the carnival. Otherwise it defeats the purpose for them.

I see it's a 1pm start in 3rd and 4th grade for one dayers now. Assume that means 40 overs per side.

Good move! Id like to see them play only 1dayers but that wont happen

In a dream world id like to see A & B grade play every team in a two dayer and then the A grade play 3x 1dayers and 3x T20s for those respective comps, Then the C & D play only one dayers. That will never happen because it would mean sundays almost every week or starting in september so not possible but ya know we can all dream

Hmm, what prompted the change? Haven't heard anything about this until now......doesn't change much as the under age games are 40/40.

Looking thru draw, the Bank SA seems to be reduced to one week, plus 20/20 games? SACA been pushing to get rid of this Carnival, this might be the final nail in coffin, seems waste of time if just 20/20 matches!
