I said he should get 7-11

Lets get onto the next thing.
So Pooraka D Grade (LO6) called ATCA on Thursday night and asked if they could play a kid that had played a few b grade games and few c grade games a mostly d grade games. This was given the OK by ATCA.
Fast forward to after the game and Pooraka have been told ATCA that he was ineligible to play and have not disqualified Pooraka.
If this holds up. Will be another embarrassing moment for ATCA.

Pooraka should have looked at it themselves and understood he wasn't eligible.
If they then asked ATCA, they should have given correct details when asking, rather than general vagaries (a few, mostly, etc). {Not saying they didn't}
Jayden McDermott
1x2Day game (B1) and 4 LO5 games, meaning 6 weeks cricket above LO6, and only 5 LO6 games.
Clearly not eligible.OKC! wrote:Props to ATCA for holding the suspension up.
(Having said that, if Pooraka did present the games played stats correctly, and ATCA did approve it, in writing, then yes, Pooraka could feel hard done by).
Flinders Uni doing a Steven Bradbury here!
Finish 5th, only for 4th to lose points and Flinders Uni promoted to the semi final.
Lose the Semi Final, only for opponents to have played an unqualified player.
Lets see if they can be premiers after losing this Saturday too....
OKC! wrote:My understanding is that they called and asked if he was qualified, and they said yes. I believe they were unaware that the 2 day game counted as two weeks. However, It should not be on the club to provide details. It should be on the association to provide the correct response. ATCA said yes on Thursday, and are now doing a backflip.

If they rang up and got an answer on the spot, it means the person providing the answer hasn't had time to look it up and analyse the details. The person responding would have had to go off the details provided by the club.
Once again, don't know the details on what was or wasn't said, but it sounds like the club didn't provide clear details on the games played, and therefore got an answer to a different scenario than what was actually the case here.
eg: if they said he's play 1B grade, a couple of LO5 and the rest of the season in LO6, then yeah, they were likely told that he would be fine to play.
But when you look at the details, he's play more than a couple or a few LO5, he's play 4, and only 5 in LO6. Add in the B grade game counting as double an LO game and he's not qualified.
Disappointing way for Cubby's season (and career?) to end, but for mine the club needs to take responsibility (not saying they aren't) rather than be looking to blame others like you seem keen to do.
Anyway, its a mute point now. They played a guy who wasn't qualified, and if they don't have approval in writing to do so, I can't see how any other decision could be made but for Flinders Uni to go through.
