I made comment on the rules, nothing about the quality of the surface. If any of you had bothered to check, you would have seen i was wrong and that these pitches are indeed covered by the rules (provided it was approved by the association).

I guess i have reservations about the uncritical adoption of these new rubber filled synthetic pitches that are designed, manufactured and selected for, based on their properties in relation to off-season sports as a priority, where the suitability and effect on cricket playing is a distant second.

that I agree with. It is being driven in our area by Mitcham Council with concerns about OH&S carp

Do you guys pay for it? Because we've always for ever and a day had to pay for our own even though Marion Council controls the oval.

We'll be replacing ours this year, thank god! The stuff that we always use plays true, and we havent had any OHS issues with it.

No we don't pay. The OHS issue is for winter sports. Seems the council would rather spend money on the permanent turf and rubber pellets than putting sand on it.

We buy our own matting in the Onka Council area at our other oval.

For starters the Coro pitches are stupid. A ball that whizzes past your ear on a drive-able length from a medium pacer is not variable bounce. The only good thing about playing at blackwood is watching the girls play tennis. It's also good to see the 2011/12 season isn't scarce of the Morphy Parks cybering sessions
