Am i alone in thinking Salisbury Wests apparent pre-season weakness has shown itself on the weekend?

Lost 6/30 against ATCO, showing that you can get on top of a young inexperienced side..

Poor atco will still lose outright though lol

Wasn't it the tail that got them over the line against R&C the previous week ? A complete contrast to this weeks game ?

Bit paranoid about SW are we? Posting 250 back to back to open the season would usually be considered an ominous start, not a sign of weakness. From what I hear they were chasing quick runs to send ATCO in before the end of the day to put them under some pressure. Had they just aimed to bat out the day, I've no doubt 300+ was going to happen.

Yes.. that and a certain dropped catch. But as they say, that's cricket.. SW's tail did quite well I thought under the circumstances. Game could've gone either way..

i'm not in anyway suggesting they still aren't a quality outfit, and indeed punished us the week before, but we have ourselves to blame as well - missed run out last over day 1, dropped DJ twice in one over on about 10, dropped another young fella on 0 he made 20 odd and our fielding was absolute rubbish. Once Westies passed our total Wellington and McInnes just teed off and smashed us to all parts.

All i'm suggesting is are they going to be prone to collapses this season? ;)

And why do you need quick runs when you are 4/210 with a mountain of overs left in the day - especially against a side that has been pantsed badly in their last two matches, and are likely to struggle to hit 100? :? :D

ATCO put themselves under pressure by sending SW in!

Phantom were you never taught not to poke a bear?

I would've thought the last 3 Grand Finals speak volumes of Salisbury West ability to perform when counted.

Perhaps you should worry less about October mind games and more about reaching the other end.

Be lucky to bat out the day n make 200... my opinion. Going to be a very tall ask for you boys to stay in div 1. I would actually like it if u did because i enjoy playing against u, usually a good group of lads but i cant quite see it happening.

The ground was lightning quick yesterday, good value for shots so anything less than 300 would've been a disappointed. There is a glimmer of hope there for Craigmore if they can bat 70 overs.

Interesting to see the scores this round though as the top 2 from last years Grade 1 play the top 2 from Grade 2, appears to show the gap that exists between Grade 1 & Grade 2

I think there is a fairly large gap between SW and R&C to the rest of Grade 1 as well except maybe AV on their day.

I think you will find OTH will be a massive chance this year. Jaz up the top of the order I will almost back for most runs in the comp, along with T Scott looking to have a massive year, Smitty and McNair as well, Neil if he decides to play every week. They are my tip to sneak under the radar all year and make the GF.

Any flag odds or grand final quniella odds LM?? ;)

Too early for that just yet matey. The Goats are definitely staking a stronger claim as each week passes, the Unit's didn't end up with the 3 million recruits that was suggested earlier, they still look dangerous though, Andy Carman's absence will hurt the Vale but they still have a good nucleus.
I'm of the opinion that there's Salisbury West, then any of the next 6 can match it with each other, then ATCO.
I'm not sold that Virginia are that bad, they are traditional poor starters.

I think that's an unfair assessment, the same thing will occur next round too, there is no doubt that the gap is widening, having 3 "B" grade sides in Grade 2 is evident, Salisbury North appears a bit light on but will battle on.
Eastern Park seems the length of Flemington ahead of anyone in Grade 2 so far this season, it is a marathon not a sprint though.

Woodward bowled well, i thought he particularly used the change of pace and length well. Overall Angle Vale had a pretty good start at about 3/100 but the middle order struggled with some attacking shots leading to wickets and a bad runout not helping.
I'm a bit surprised Woodowrd doesn't get the new ball. I assume Norman isn't first choice keeper because he's used as a bowler. He got a very good legside stumping.
When you get overs at a side at the end of the day with a low total on the board you can't drop catches either!
