I guess it is a lesson to all of the clubs, be wary of what comes from outside the local scene, no loyalty, its all about me. Gen what.[/quote]

Didnt Glenelg have the same problem a few years back, with Panesar Gareth Andrews and anyone with an accent, costing younger juniors valuable time in the 1's?
The last year, pretty sure all there A grade team played Juniours at the club and they finished 3rd for the year! Whereas previous years, were barely a force in the 2 day comp!

safe to say i havent been to impressed with them!!!!!!!... good blokes, great to have around the club but to be honest at what cost??? maybe thats why the culture is better this year then previous??? no fear of blow ins taking spots from local talent... problem is no one had the balls to speak up.

Mm, so lets get this right, we play the local lads, they average 5 or 6 and we have to be happy with that because there are no alternatives. Good theory, take the wooden spoon, but gee the culture is good. I think a reality check is in order, talent will come through and talent will get an opportunity very early, I think that is pretty evident in all grade clubs, the depth is not there, so anyone with talent will get opportunities and if they work hard enough, they will eventually prosper and be better for the experience.

Merv did plenty for the Jets he singlehandly beat woodville off his own bat in a one dayer to get us into the semis and then final. 21 wickets at 15 in 2 day comp and leading wicket taker in twenty20 comp 12 @ 7 and chuck in his 9 @ 16 in the one day comp, his late innings cameos with the willow and i find it hard to believe he didnt do much for us. Will be a massive loss for us and he was a major reason why we played in 3 finals last season

Star, pretty safe to say that with his bowling he pretty much won you a couple of games against TTG last year as well, one a semi I believe. Apparently he pretty much starred on Thursday nights in the fair city of Adelaide as rumour has it.

I'm happy if TTG continue to do what they do and ND continue to do what we do. One seems to work, the other...

As for Merv, if he has done wrong then it is poor form, but I will not judge until evidence is presented and judgement is passed by the courts of the UK. Either way, he was valuable for ND over two seasons regardless of his nocturnal activity and anything he may or may not have done during a match for another club.

Struggle to see how that is truth when Gleleng have sturuggled in the 2 day comp over the 5 years, until last year, with a side full of club juniors! 2007/8 W.Stanborough and N.Schollar number 1 and 2 in the B grade comp medal, W.Stanborough couldnt get a game and won the medal by 20 votes as i recall!!!

Good question. Was watching the GF with the bloke in charge of that choice and there may be options to alter the schedule to morning matches on Saturday or night matches on Friday, but the games will go ahead.

Being a long weekend matches could also be moved to either the Sunday or Monday. Would not be the first time cricket has clashed with the SANFL Grand Final.

Any venue both teams agreed upon and could secure I suppose. I would guess that the program stands and any variation would be by arrangement between the two clubs involved.

If I remember right, Glenelg have not had an investment in the DLA, in fact I cannot remember anyone that has played for them. Weren't Glenelg 1 wicket away from a GF 4 years ago, only heroics from Kelly saved WT and ultimately gave them a premiership. HK, if I remember correctly you won a 1 day final the previous season and played in a 20/20 final a couple of seasons ago. You might have had some overseas players, Ellison, Donnelly, Panesar (half season), and stuff me you have Bailey & Edmondson this year. I re iterate talent will get opportunities and prosper, don't get this mixed up with those that think they have talent and should get an opportunity.

Not sure SACA will move on this one, if you played Friday night you would have to start just after 3 and then allow 3 hours prior to dark, won't happen IMO. I think everyone had better mark in their diaries the current program. Just count yourself lucky if you have the bye or one of the early games.

Going by that then the Glenelg/Adelaide fixture is in a bit of strife. The Glandore Curator is struggling to get a wicket prepared and it is looking increasingly likely that there will be a struggle to get practice wickets up in time for Round 1.

Glenelg still have the footy club using the ground with their 18's still alive in the finals as of tonight and also judging by the last time I was there in early August it was hard to spot a blade of grass on the oval...

Not enough time to get a night game in. The sun sets shortly after six and it is pre-daylight saving time. With most Grade cricket players having work commitments, this would not happen.

All games next weekend are on Park 25, with all but East Torrens playing on the Saturday, 12 and 3.10 starts. Clubs still have 2 weeks to get their grounds up, bit of sunshine would help.
