Southern Cricket Association News

Local cricket is the go here. Any talk about local comps, grade cricket, etc.

Same thing happened in this seasons Calaby Shield semi final between SCA & Murray Towns. Souhern passed Murray Towns' score with 25 overs to go.
The Southern association umpire called the game off. It was pointed out to him by the Southern coach that home ground advantage for the Grand final would be decided by the amount of runs Southern won by.
The umpire said no. of wickets in hand and no. of overs left would be taken into account.
He was wrong.
Grand Final was to be played away at Strathalbyn but was called off due to the heat. Another date can't be scheduled so SCA & Alexandrina share the title.
Bit of a pity as both sides had a number of Grade junior players. Would have been a good match.
SCA had mainly Stingrays (2 State Under 15 players), some Sturt & Glenelg.
Alexandrina had several Stingrays and Sturt players.

I think he's still a little nervous about venturing into the outfield. That incident with the streaker really messed him up.

They did Dutchy.
Their C's and D's are in GF's this weekend, a big improvement on previous years where the club was struggling for numbers and finals appearances.

Can Port Noarlunga finally become the bride instead of the bridesmaid they have been for the past 5 or so years?

I think they can Diddy.

Over the past few years Noarlunga have been the only stumbling block and with them out the way I'm predicting their 1st A Grade flag since 73/74.

Indeed they did Diddy.
A's, B's & C's all won their Grand Finals

Their 1st A Grade flag since 73/74 when Jim Curtis (for those at Marion) was at the helm and Mick Fitzgerald had long hair.
The B's go back to back and the C's continue recent dominance.

A VERY good day for the club.

Winners are grinners Kaiser.

Personally I hope Sullies are in the top 4 next season because what the committee have done there over the past 3-4 seasons has been terrific. They deserve some finals action on hard work alone.

Legend, I am very much a player, and one of those on the committee which Smithy spoke about, who actually care about this club.
Unfortunately not enough do.
It just sucks when a person like Leon leaves our club, because he was one who would put his hand up and help out, ie' coaching juniors etc.
Then leaves because not enough people help out!! making the responsibilites on the others who do even more greater. When he knew how hard people worked when he was there.
i hope he didn;t have to do too much behind the scenes at Porties.

It just disappointed me when Leon left, because he had played at O'SB as long as I had, and he was one who cared about the club, and for him to just get up and walk out, was disappointing that's all. I can understand why he left, because i too, being one who puts their hand up knows how hard it can get, but it just made it harder without him.

My feeling is that last season will be the last time you see O'SB on the field unfortunately.
Not enough people care and want to help. Too many people think a crciket club runs itself.

Rumours a lot of players leaving.
H.Dedicoat - retiring
C.Dedicoat - retiring
M.Dedicoat - leaving to play with old mates
M.Howard - Brighton
W.McKay - perhaps Great Southern
L.Holdsworth - perhaps Brighton
D.Beck - retiring

all rumours, but if so, there goes the A grade, and say goodbye to the club.

Not at all. Now they screwed us over with our presos.
The pricks double booked the club and wont let us use the gym to do it in coz our band was to play and that might annoy the private function in the main room.
