Worst by far ....... Wistow.
Shaved (using the term loosely) in to the top of a hill with chicken wire around the boundary so the ball, if not hit over boundary dosn't roll down the hill and take 10 minutes to retrieve or lost in the dam. If you are feilding on the offside you can only see half of your team mate on the onside.
Oh and you don't want to play there on the first game of the round after they have run the sheep on it over winter, you can tell where the ball is from the spray of sheep pellets thrown up behind it.

Used to play for Stanley Bridge a while back at Scott Creek oval, and if you hit it over the boundary on the west side you can forget about trying to find the ball as it was all dense scrub going uphill.

end of debate ;)

We have a winner 8)

although having said that I believe that eastern park Oval is the only ground in PDCA history to have a match cancelled due to its condition ;)

Ahem, North Pines. The only reason why Wasleys doesn't get condemned is because they exec. couldn't be bothered travelling out there and the opposition wouldn't complain about playing them.

20 years ago Craigmore oval was a disgrace, I remember turning a ball down to fine leg for a single only for the ball to hit a crack the size of the grand canyon and bounce up over the fielders head and go for a boundary.

Thank god the council has improved it and actually water it these days.

bit of cooch growing on it and the oval is tiny, definately not a good oval.

Your kidding me, I hit a few cars driving along Churchill road and made 87 not out that day, took 6/14 the week later there. Tell me it hasn't been good to me?

Under 16 Reds or Whites ???????

I made 94 there in U16 whites. The next year was very excited to see we were playing there again in U16 Reds, thought a century was a sure thing.

Got out first ball of the match

Smithfield Oval is looking an absolute picture atm, just a bit too lush, nice for us older blokes to fall over on though.

Saw Woodville Oval a few weeks ago... magnificent!

Just about the best square in the grade competition and they seem to be mowing the outfield a little closer now too. Used to be a lush, thick outfield, but was very good when I saw it.

Now rivals Uni for best ground in the grade competition IMO.

The old ground behind holdens where rosies used to play was a disgrace. No grass and massive cracks that the ball would fly off and to top it off no one would dive because you would come up with 3 corner jacks sticking out of your skin. To make it worse they were still using the old coconut matting. Absolute shit hole, glad its not used anymore

The pitch or the oval Rip?

Any pitch that is all Kiykuyu is always going to be a bit rough and the ground is small but probably a bit harsh on my part to say that its the worst. Be the worst ground I have played on for a while though.

Yeah the pitch is terrible, it would be in the best interests of the club in a cricket sense to forget about it and play the c/d grades over on LJ Lewis, but the club wont do that because they dont want to lose any bar takings etc..

Might be time to rip it up and start again. Going to have to be done at some stage if they want to keep playing there.
Hows the complex though, No1 looks the goods and there's TAB in the bar! :D

Be interesting to see what happens at Uni park 10 #2 with the council planning on planting out a double row of gums along the road which has already been cut off. The boundary already is tiny, the trees will make it near impossible to host games there in the future.

Im all for planting new trees but the council have to be smart and accomodating about it.
