Also sounds like they havent made much of a start on turf pitch yet ....

The one player we have from another BLCA wanted to come to us. Also his son wanted to play cricket with all his mates at Sandy so it made sense for him to come across too.
As for the pitch yes you are right nothing been done yet but it is out of our hands. Waiting for the clay to be dug up

The player I am talking about definitely is not playing for you this coming season ... but he was definitely contacted. (I'll leave it at that)

I've heard there is delays in clay due to wet weather. It 'probably' means no turf cricket at Sandy Creek this week.

No prob no turf cricket at Sandy this WEEK, your right. Jan next year
Back to the creek it is.

I meant season .... (think you will struggle to have it playable in January) .... three months time ... given existing pitches were a good 10 months between laying and playing on.
I guess summer weather may help a bit, but I cant see the sods binding well enough to give the pitch the maturity it needs to be played on.

1st round this week starting with a one dayer

sandy creek v gilbert valley @ williamstown
angaston v freeling @ angaston
nuri v gawler central @ nuri
tanunda v kapunda @ tanunda

sandy should get their 1st win in the new comp, gilbert valley always slow starters unless vandy has a day on
freeling over angaston, angaston have quite a few out with a wedding
nuri over central easy
kapunda to smash tanunda in last years grand final rematch. tanunda have lost quite a few players, boh will need to make 1500 this year if they are to go any good

any predictions for the season?
kapunda
nuri
sandy creek
gilbert valley
angaston
freeling
gaw central
tanunda
looks to be wide open kapunda the stand out and other 7 could finish anywhere from 2nd to 8th

Should be a good season. Would love to make a prediction but i have zero idea about everyone else. Just looking forward to the country bakeries during the tea break and the pub crawl on the way home.

Fair call. I think when Norm was trying to get you guys out to sandy this year he shouldve told Catchit about the country bakeries that wouldve got him over the line. Never forget the day he smashed about three or four pies at our ground then he took a breath.

Gilbert Valley all out 99, Sandy 188 for 7, slow oval but some big hitting after we passed the total saw our total rise sharply. Good to get out there and test ourselves against some different players who we dont know and also play against guys who dont know us. Was good to see Gilbert Valley lads hang around for a drink afterwards.

Couple of interesting points, felt sorry for the young lad who took a pretty good catch then proceeded to drop it while trying to throw the ball in the air in celebration (caused a bit of a chuckle between both teams) and a flat batted six that went one bounce into the limo parked outside the Hall at Curdnatta Park, not sure the driver was too happy

Geez, thats a good win by Angaston. I was at the body's wedding and their seemed to be half the a-grade side all suited up knocking over the pale ales at a frantic pace. What I heard at the wedding was that their were 32 players unavailable yesterday for one reason or another but the club could still manage to put 3 teams on the park (mind you all depleted).
Brandon Kurtz, Ben Burgess, Matthew Doecke, Craig Doecke, Nick Pech, and Josh Gerhardy all were at The Body's wedding plus young left arm speedster Sam Gardham didn't play either due to another wedding. Hopefully the panthers have a good year ain the 1's and the second tier players look like they are starting to take the opportunities. Tough time at the selection table this week.
