Pete Magarey made it out to training last night. The wily spinner has just spent a few weeks with Peter Pollock, might have taught Pollock a thing or two about cricket.

I believe he's nearing 55 years old and still looking fit. Craig Bradley has nothing on this man!

I hear Renmark only have eight players for this weekend?

Anyone confirm/deny?

On the money there SS.

Got a call this morning asking when i would be back in the area, and if i could play because they only had "7 or 8" people willing to play this weekend.

Renmark Cricket seems to have some issues. the fact they can sustain their own B grade competition but not field an A Grade is rediculous. In the past it was very much an anti-Renmark Turf mentality that stopped decent cricketers from playing A grade in Renmark, because of some tools involved at turf. Having said that i havent been around for a few years so my reasoning might be outdated.

I've heard they may struggle to field a side full stop.
Sad if true.

Also heard some RTCA clubs have looked at going to Renmark's comp. Also sad if true.

yeah, we got called up last night because Renmark have forfeited and Berri were looking to play a trial against us. Um, thanks, but not thanks. Most of us will be away so we couldn't. What's going on up there?

Renmark have forfeited and will struggle to get a side together at all from what I hear. I feel sorry for Tony Victor and the other organisers who have tried to get Renmark cricket together and failed because there are people who would rather play in their own little competition. Why good cricketers would rather play at a lower standard rather than testing themselves, I have no idea. Flat track bullies perhaps?

The solution: Pretty simple really. Shut down the Renmark District Comp and simply say that if anyone in Renmark wants to play cricket the Renmark Cricket Club is the only place to do it. They would probably get 3 teams together and 2 could play in the Riverland B grade comp. The A grade and B grade comps would only be stronger and better.

I can't see that ever happening.
The Renmark District cricketers are pretty happy in their own little comp.
It is ridiculous that an 11 players can't be found from 5 teams.
I think there will be a lot of junior players in the A grade side this week.

Will there be a side?
Will there be another side come from somewhere?

I'd back Renmark to have a side this week, but whether it can be sustained over the whole season is another matter entirely.

None taken mate! I don't play there!
It is a pretty ordinary effort if they can't get a side together.
I know the blokes in charge are busting their arses to get one, but some blokes are either committed to families and not playing, just want to play district or just plain lazy.

Apparently Renmark have got a team together. That is good for the comp, but it's still pretty pathetic from all the guys who will not commit. We'll see whether they can sustain it. I hope they can. I'll say it again; scrap the Renmark District Comp. It would solve a lot of problems.

Doesn't a prominent RTCA club have a team in that comp NS?
Or have they moved back to the RTCA?

That club needs to come back to the RTCA before people in the RTCA call for the Renmark comp to be scratched.

Great news that Loxton's fielding two sides in the B grade btw.

Certainly is.
I guess with no Gerard in the comp there's no need for them to worry anymore!

Sad to lose a side, no matter who it is.

Have the Gerard players dispersed to other clubs or just aren't playing?

Can anyone tell me why Danyal Reynolds, Chris Cook and Daniel Dawson are not lining up for Berri this year?
