So what is the problem at enfield then, bad leadership or just some bad eggs who have to much influence.

Myth, you're my best friend, you've seen me sing emo-screamo versions of Taylor Swift songs after a 4-pack of Bulleits...

This sounds like a facebook status not a cricket discussion.

Im going to vote... both because they have had some good leaders there and still have a few, but seems too many people have their own agenda, too many people are about themselves, not many of them play for the club or for the people around them.

Div 1: Fitzroy and Para Vista to win the semi's..good young talented group the Roys have and throw in a couple of old farts and it is one decent team!!!if they can keep the young one's around they will only get better and better.
GF:Para Vista..although would be nice if they let someone else win it for a change

Div 2:Paralowie and Seaton
GF:Seaton

Div 3:Adel Lutheran and Para Vista
GF:Para Vista

Div 4:Enfield and Paralowie..chasing 150 odd,the Roys will be lucky to make a score of 75 this wk with the bowling line-up Enfield has :p
GF:Enfield..now that B.Park are out the top 4 ;)(fair to say i copped abit at training regarding a statement about B.Park) haha,no one will challenge them the slightest!! \:D/

The irony with all the Enfield bashing is that they have the most teams in the association and that has been the case for some time now.

So they must be doing something right to keep attracting and retaining players, while so many other clubs don't. :?

Both Div 1 games are in the balance IMO. NEK will be more than keen to chase down our 288 to get some sort of revenge from last year. PV defending 180odd should get up. However Jeremy 'Borgasm' Borgas is in outstanding form with the bat. If borgy and stancl can get going PV v Adel Luth will be an absolute cracker!
An exciting weekend of cricket is to be had thats for sure.
Some exciting times to be had a Fitzroy atm. Probably the only team in Div 1 with some youth coming through. And we may have snaffled up another one for next season :P

Harry, you're kidding yourself saying both games are in the balance. Good Runs on the board come finals time is worth gold. I'd say the teams batting first this game are a 90% chance of making the GF making it the Roys V PV at the big dance. In saying that, Good Luck to the teams chasing tomorrow and if either of those sides get the runs required, it will be a brave performance.

typewriter wrote:Ecky, Para Vista's focus this year was attracting and retaining committed, club-oriented players. We deliberately lost players who were costing the club money, and only showing a part-time commitment that was dragging the rest of the club down. We no longer wanted to run the risk of turning away week-in-week-out paid up players, by selecting part-timers with better skills. And we definitely don't like blokes who only put their hand up to play in the lower grades.

Source mentioned that four or five of the A-Grade players have left Enfield, and now they have a couple of disgruntled B-Graders looking for new clubs... with this in mind, are Enfield attracting and retaining the right players for club longevity and success? Or just blokes that frustrate the hell out of the rest of the club so much that they knick off to play for Rose & Crown?

Your pretty well on the money mate. Over the last year and a bit i was at Enfield, they tried to change the "culture" of the club, tried weeding out the blokes who never paid money or committed etc or were just bad influences around the club.

Unfortunately as A grade captain and with the help of James Hughes who was treasurer, we wore the brunt of the abuse as blokes started being overlooked for games etc and harassed for money whilst everyone else sat back and stayed quiet. It didnt bother me that i had to be the one to p!ss these blokes off, what really bothered me was that a) James & I were made to look like the bad guys b) No one else involved stood up and accepted some sort of involvement or publically supported us and c) that since leaving i look back and see they have welcomed some back with open arms!

As for the knicking off to R&C, well actually i went to Morialta 1st mid season. The reason? After a stressfull start to the season both in my personal life and in cricket, i stood down as captain, and was replaced by Mick Johns - a bloke who was not respected by the playing group, a bloke who had stood down two seasons previous after starting the season with 3 big losses & couldnt handle the failure. When i stood down, the side was sitting 2nd or 3rd, and ended up playing finals and of course M. Johns was more than happy to be involved with the A grade again then, seeing as they were having more success.

Anyway i struggled to get a game in the A grade after that, and then after my xmas work do i went and watched them play Paralowie and i was in fine form!

Long story short, me and Johns had an arguement later after the game and he asked me "Why don't you just **** off to Morialta already?" ... and as they say the rest is history!

Following season Johns lined up in the infamous C grade where he has remained since. What a guy, what a leader!!

And as i've said before, its amazing to think of the players over the past few seasons that have been involved with Enfield.

Oh and lol also, its funny that source mentioned about him not thinking blokes could play higher at the club. I vividly remember them having the same mentality towards a few other guys who struggled to get an A grade game..

Paul Wright - played in the carnival side, has almost single handedly kept CM afloat the past two seasons and has taken bucket loads of wickets and made mountains of runs.
Mick Feltus - Opening bowler for r&c in grade 1 PDCA, also was opening the bowling for Morialta in grade 1 churches.
Matt Feltus - batted 3 for Morialta in grade 1 churches and has made plenty of runs this season in my side - he spent almost AN ENTIRE SEASON in Enfields D grade  ... following year batting 3 in div 1!!
