Do you get bonus points for bowling sides out quick do you know?

Pretty sure its to stop teams batting first and thrashing sides but i cant see any diff to getting the score within 20 overs, a thrashing is a thrashing i would of thought? ... I havnt heard of the bowling bonus point but should also be available imo.

i like the bonus point but i think the team bowling second should be rewarded if bowling them out within a certain over... especially if its a weaker side and they roll the team going for a bonus point... the rule has seemed to be put in place to protect 1 or 2 sides? Isnt a outright more humiliating then being rolled in a onedayer?

The bonus points are decided by % of overs completed once the runs are made, not strictly just before 20, or 30. If you make the runs with 50% of the available overs bowled or less, 2 points, 50% to 75% bowled then it's 1. If 40 overs are available then it's the 20 over and 30 over mark that matter (which is most games anyway) but if a side only faced 38 overs and time completed the innings, it gets a little more complicated.

I've always had the opinion that they should be making an association squad before the season starts. Get the ball rolling earlier, try to set up a couple of low key training sessions with a barbie or something. If you started with 20 blokes, you could take out the ones not interested and add new blokes that deserve it as you go. Could even set up a hit and giggle 20/20 association side V SW or something as a practice match. Time to take these games seriously or can them completely IMHO. This last minute calling anyone the coach happens to have the number of the night before the actual game has to stop.

I think the aus limited overs comp a couple years ago had bonus points for bowling sides out for restricted totals or something like that, its good idea i think, makes for more attacking cricket from both sides.

Maybe they don't have internet access out at Virginia yet, fine :!! $-) .

Well the wait is over custard, all for nothing, Bascombe didn't play so you still have your 100. Lesson learnt, I will now not do any H2H's for games that involve just AV, PG or Virginia, at least if any of them play someone else I can get feedback from another forumite.

The bonus point was actually my suggestion at a delegates meeting, I pushed it for a couple of years. My line of thinking was that when a strong team plays a weak team and the weak team has 8 players, in most cases the strong team would bat first, make 400 then bowl the other team out for jackshit By offering the bonus point it gives a team the chance to score 300 without making 300 runs, hence, not humiliating a side and having players quit because they can't be bothered anymore.
You'll find that North Pines Grade 4 got bundled out for 9 a few years back, imagine how they felt if they were chasing 350.
So basically it was to keep the competition alive.

I was there for that - very sad indeed

I remember saying to the great man Azza as he wet sat watching that I didn't think it would take long - especially when the guy openingthe batting asked a team mate which leg does the pad go on

I agree with all of that, but only for the lower grades.. Not sure there would be to many examples like that in grade 1?
