ATCA made 9/265.
We were rolled for about 75. The highlight being Jeremy Borgas' 46*

i hear they had a couple of fair opening bowlers pidge??

Yeah, they were too good.
Bowled really well with decent pace too.

Tremain would have been one of the opening bowlers from Ingle Farm, maybe Sandercock from the other end also from the Farm. Yep fair gap in standard between the two sides. Maybe Borgas should look at turf cricket next season. Young fellas with any talent would enjoy the chance to play at an excellent level of cricket. Should be encouraged to move to such a level.

Our side did have quite a few players from div 3 in it which wouldnt have helped our cause. I kind of think of our comp as akin to a div5 footy team. Some players can play higher but they wanna play with their mates and play for their clubs and dont have any inclinations to play in any other comp just coz they can. Personally i love our comp, but if players wanna play in turf good on em but if they dont good on em too.

As coaches we have an obligation to the player and the game itself to promote a higher level of cricket wherever possible, and believe me I've had several discussions with players within C&CCA during my time as Assoc Coach, despite the selfish temptation to want to keep players in our comp, especially young, talented cricketers. What they decide to do with that recommendation is up to them. ;)

PS; Sorry dutchy, my phone was on my mate's boat from Saturday's snapper sesh... :?

PPS; He caught this big sucker on a live chow.. 8)

Hey mate, was an interesting game, between you and Rove firing up, the catch near the boundary, me nearly being run out and georges 5 ball overs it was on for young and old for a while. Even George was getting fired up, i was telling him to let it go but even as i was telling him he was trying to get into an argument. Must say i felt pretty close to being out for that run out, even running at my thunderous pace it was a close call. Didint think i batted too badly, couldnt get under anything tho to give it a whack. As for the drink after the game i'll come over this week. Misses has been a bit crook for a couple of weeks so couldnt leave her at home with the kids for any longer than i needed too.
As for the runs ill bet you blokes will go hell for leather to get them, and im sure you blokes will let us know all about it if you do, but at the end of the day the best team will have won and we'll all have a drink and a laugh (or cry).

Just an interesting yet useless fact, i never slide my bat anymore when making my ground. A couple of years ago i slid my bat in in much the same circumstances, the bat got into a depression in the ground and it nearly tore my arm off and nearly impaled me at the same time. Hence ever since i kind of just tap my bat in once over the line. Prob not the bet thing to do but its safer especially on grounds with patchy grass around the wicket.
