Cheers for the endorsement with the Representative sides mate, we think we're on the right track, and after speaking to a few NEK boys after the GF, hopefully we see a few of their faces out there at training next year too. It's a good environment we're trying to promote, there's no 'pinheads' allowed and we have a great nucleus of talent at present.. This year's CUSA Cup was encouraging to say the least, notching up a win against Para Districts for the first time ever. And if anyone wants to donate their spine (preferably in good working order..) to BB, he'd greatly appreciate the gesture..

Yeah i wouldn't mind going to the try outs, i don't think i'm good enough yet though, i had a good year but i came up from Div 3 last season so i think i need another good year in Div 1 before I or anyone else rates me. Still in saying that i'll try out next season and see what happens. Would be an awesome achievement to take part in it and anyone who does is very lucky and privilaged i think

Best team all year - PV
Luckiest team all year - NEK ( PV dropped 17 nek catches in 2 games, excluding finals)
Worst catching team - PV, Fitz
Wort batting team of the decade - Morialta
best bowling team - full strength fitzy/full strength morialta,
best batting team - nek/pv
best fielding team - pv
best sledging team - dunno, people dont sledge me!! i wonder why??

Worst batting team!!! are you forgetting Rose park, a whole batting line up cant consist of just one player, Brenton Reidy. Even when he did make runs, the rest struggles to get a total! And as a point to proove it, Scooter took 21 for the minor round and 11 of them where against Rose Park! any team that cant score of scooters bowling, not even reidy could, i would put them as worst batting team!

What about worst bowling team BB?

well....rose park by a long way. Dont know what clarkey was doing trying to control his massive inswing in the latter half of the season.

scooter will tell ya he got all of those wickets with his wrong-un too. he said he got me with a wrong-un, and it was, but it was half way down the pitch and i had too much time and tried to smash it. smash it i did - onto the stumps. still angry.

hear hear!! alot of you boys are capable. We need an ugly fast bolwer, so tell Baldo to have a sniff !! if we can actually get the cream from all the teams, it would be a formidable side.

we need Ace to sponsor the team. Private jet , women, and booze will cover it. plenty of incentive

As for comments of us having the best team after xmas - i reckon we did, but we didnt play as a team. No excuse, just a reason. You can have a team high flyers, but its not a team if there is no consistant interaction between team members. This is true of most teams, and you will find the teams with the most stable line ups like PV and NEK did well. Its always hard to play well when the teams chop and change, and im sure we would all agree.

I would suggest that everyone gets behind the Herders/Scooters objectives for the CUSA cup and Championships for the next few years. Encourage all teams and all capable team members to participate and nominate for selection. There is a chance to play on adelaide oval, and we need to foster a competitive mentality for future churchie players to represent us against the other local assosiations.

It was 17 catches in the ONE game against NEK BB, plus a handful in the GF.. But you reckon we're the best fielding side..?? How does that work?? Bad catching is bad cricket, but we do work fairly hard on our fielding, believe it or not... ;)

I heard they couldn't find that ticker of yours with exploratory surgery.. ;)

Hey Pistol, if you are who I think you are, you had a fairly decent Div.1 season and scored a few in the GF, so we'd love to see you out at Association training! 8) We're all about trying to improve our stocks too, so at the very least you might walk away with some handy tips to work on and get some quality training amongst the best we have going around. I hear Millsey and a few other boys are keen too, it'd be great to have some of the NEK lads out. 8)

yeah 39 i think, got out to a dodgy LBW decission that even a few of your boys said to me later it wasn't out. Still, didn't make a huge deal of it on the field even though i could quite easily have, i still have a bruise from where it hit me above the top flap of the pad! yeah i think Millsy only issue is being able to take the time off of work which i suppose would stop a few people from taking part. Me though, pfft work can bugger off!!! i'd play the week for sure if i got selected.

8 team comp would be great i think, i dont believe there is much difference between div 1 & 2. Proof is easy to find.. Fitzroy, Rose Pk, Adel Lutheran, Paralowie, NEK all have spent some time in divvy 2 over the past 5 or so seasons. Throw in PV, Morialta and maybe a Western XI and suddenly you have 8 sides capable of competing!

Sat, Sun finals frees up a couple weekends in the season, and put the stupid heat policy back to 40 degrees!!

Totally agree with all the above, I think Fitzroy was only one of three clubs that voted for 40 degrees, makes a mockery when Para Districts play, Adelaide Suburban play and we don’t. Also costs clubs money, and any chance to recruit half decent cricketers, because they want to be playing cricket. Even if it is only implemented in the top two divisions, I hope some clubs have a change of heart for next season.

What i would like to know is obviously the delegates are voting on behalf of their clubs, but how many actually take the information to the clubs and get a consensus? I think with Enfield we only took it to the committee and the committee voted on it, then the delegate took the vote to the meeting, which was fine because we supported 40 degrees lol, but i mean if you have a committee/delegate against hot weather but 9 out of 11 blokes keen to play then those 9 lose out dont they?

Must be a way you can get the vote from the players, after all its their decision. Maybe we should have poll :P

Mate, your LBW was a Barry Crocker! I was standing almost side on to it and it almost hit you on the hip!! But I thought you looked good while you were out there. I'd like to see more of you and see you pop your head out next season when the Rep. trainings start for the CUSA Cup. 8) As for time-off from work etc, we will remind likely 'Championships candidates to organise their leaves passes from the 'Minister for War & Finance' and leave from work at least 12mths in advance wherever possible. We have found over the years that these 2 factors are crucial to compiling a quality squad - ie; you don't want to leave these things until a month before the trip, for example..

As for the heat rule, I would endorse 40. Player awareness about hydrating these days is far higher than even 15yrs ago for example. I can remember playing Ingle Farm at their ground in 42 degrees, fielding for 80 overs, of which 23 were sent down by yours truly, then on the Sunday we backed up with a Brock Younger one-dayer at Pooraka in 43 degrees. We were stuffed, but we managed to survive..

On a side note, I took BB out for a fish yesterday arvo in the SS Wino. Awesome conditions out in The Gulf and I guaranteed him that he'd catch a snook. Big call.. Well, the whiting didn't play ball, the puffer fish did ( ), but I came good on my guarantee and BB caught his first ever snook. landed about 10 all up. cracker arvo on the water. Enjoyed ya company Gigs, we'll do it again sometime. 8)

For what it's worth, I agree with having 40 degrees as the cutoff.

Tell me about it! i stood there for a second thinking "how the hell did he give that?" Millsy and I were just forming a good partnership then too and getting us back into the game after your boys took a few quick wickets.

Yeah i'll try out this season and see how i go, no expectations though, like i said i still have a lot to prove.

Totally agree with changing the heat rule back to 40, it's a summer sport for F*ck Sake!!! I understand it is hot but i think it should change, just have a for eaxample 5 less overs each innings and 2 extra drinks breaks or something like that but 38 is crap!!!

A reminder to everyone about the Association Presentation Night on TONIGHT

The Website wrote:Trophy Presentation to be held on Friday 3rd April 2009 at Adelaide Lutheran Clubrooms, South Parklands, Goodwood Road, Adelaide from 6.00 pm starting with a barbeque. Come along, bring the family, even if you have not won a trophy or been part of a premiership team. Bar facilities will be available.

Please come along to support the association, and if anyone would like to discuss any issues they have with the association or proposed rule changes, I'm keen to have a chat and hear what your ideas are. :)
