U23 training tomorrow night at Prospect Oval (Willcox Tce, Prospect) at 5:30pm. Match vs ASCA this Sunday at EJ Smith Reserve (Greenacres Oval), 10am start. Get around it! ;)

If you're unable to get to training but available to play on Sunday, please contact OB (0437890019) or Auto (0426206231).

Let's show our support for the guys who're the future of our Association.

If anyone wants to offer their services to score, that's be greatly appreciated by the guys who've been dedicating their time to organise these matches and who've got coaching & managerial responsibilities on the day.

Thanks. 8)

 I blame the PV blokes I went away with for this weekends dismissal. They didn't tell me that this Bevan bloke has an armory of deliveries that can deceive any batsman. After just managing to keep out his first few at me, he then lured me with his 'Mystery Ball' which did everything and had me playing a false shot a fair distance away from the bowler. To my dismay he then jumped 5 metres to his left to take a one handed catch when the scorers had already given me a single for a shot down the ground. I think in my short time in this comp I have now become Bevan's Bunny and pray that he retires at the end of the season or fear I may have the type of nightmares Darryl Cullinan use to have about Shane Warne.

hey cougs, batting tip 101 from smasha...... swing like almighty hell and shut eyes and wait for that beautiful cracking sound the bat makes when you middle one or the sudden death rattle of your stumps

Smasha at Willowfest this year you and I are opening in a T20 Match. One bloke knows how to slog the other doesn't!

Happy B'Day Bored and for my opinion on the T20gate outright experience, I reckon our skipper would have been irresponsible if he didn't chase up extra points. All he can do is ask (which he did) and while peoples opinions vary on contriving results, the comp can put an end to it like Adelaide Turf did (Probably after GH's experience at Walkys) and not award the same amount of points for an outright win compared to a 1st innings win. Adelaide Turf also takes points off a team that wins on 1st innings and loses outright. But while the existing rules are still there, our skip did the right thing and look for an outright result. The scenario was in place with two teams at different positions on the ladder (ideal for it), for mine there was plenty of time left (2 hours) and Rose Park would have swung to the death, cos losing outright to Vista would not have bothered it one bit at this current time of the season. However I can see why Marc Cossens declined the invitation with his side sitting safely in the Top 2 and the real distinct possibility if the result went against him, that he would come up against the same team 2 weeks later in the Semi Finals.

Agreed Cougs. 8) Anyone in Nealy's position would've done the same. Conversely, there's nothing that says the opposing skipper has to reciprocate. It's the opinions & decisions of the two skippers involved that matters. ;)

Happy Birthday Hoddo & also The Frictionator. 8)

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!

Smasha, I just don't see the point of running when you get more runs for less effort by hitting it harder! Although don't need to tell u that ;)

Cougs nothing against you guys at all. Just thought your captain would have tried something earlier that's all. Was more having a go at the guy suggesting that we should have played the t20 second innings... there was no positive reason for us to do it at all.

The game fish were hooked by the first over of the match against Rose Park!

And its usually from the guys that wont be particitating in finals ;)

Enjoy mowing the lawn on your saturday's guys while the real players are soaking up the finals atmosphere.

If you'd won outright top spot would not be up for grabs this week based on a 1st innings win between PV and NEK. But now it is, winner of the 1st Innings barring a Wash Out or Heat out on the 2nd week will finish Minor Premier. I pointed this out to Marc, and he was happy to finish guaranteed Top 2 which I fully understand. However can someone tell me the rule with this comp (and this ain't a dig at PV ;) ), if the 2nd week of the GF or SF is heated out or washed out does the highest finishing team win the flag? eg 3rd playing 4th in the GF, 2nd day washed out, 3rd team wins? Or is there another weekend allocated to get a result?

Hi Cougar
there is a spare day for the S/F and G/F if the weather interupts play. I can understand that you guys aren't happy with me and i certainly dont blame you guys for asking about the outright.
Thing is , its not my fault. You guys should have come out and smacked a quick 100 or so, and even if you didnt win on first innings it wouldnt matter. You would have given yourself an opportunity for an outright result. Wasting 35 overs to get the 90 runs needed- thats where you lost your opportunity. 8 Points is no good to you you needed 16.
As for finishing top, these days with the extra days play in the finals the chances of losing due to weather is minimal. I have been playing in this comp. since 1991 ( ok i was in Sydney for 3 years ) and to my memory only twice has the result been deceided by the weather.
Dont worry, i'm sure you guys will be there next year. With guys like yourself, Di Onno, Reidy, Clarke and your other opening bowler who i cant remember right now your not far away

Cheers O2 Thief for confirming. Now that explains a lot. Good to see this comp has a reserve day in place for the finals, as a rival league nearly had a punch on between 2 teams that didn't have one! The team that had finished 2nd were chasing the Minor Premiers score on the 2nd day of a GF and were only 4 runs away from victory with 6 wickets in hand. Started raining, umpires went off, didn't stop raining, and the team that had the GF in the bag, had to watch the Minor Premier accept the shield due to no reserve day! Fair to say relations between the 2 sides was strained for a number of years after. But you're right though in saying with a reserve day in place the odds of losing 2 days in a row to weather is rather minute.

Two things. The guys that were batting woulda had some idea it was gonna rain and shoulda tried to get the runs ASAP. And secondly fair enuff there was nearly a fight. Hope the lads that won realised the shallowness of thier "victory".

We had a sitcheashun in this comp a few years ago where the GF wasnt played AT ALL due to that 20 day heat wave we had in March a few years back. Personally i think we were robbed just like that team above!

The team chasing knew the weather was coming Auto and lost a couple of wickets trying to get the job done. In fact the Batsmen coming to the crease were running out to bat. The Premiership Photo shows only one bloke celebrating the flag, the rest looked like they were at a funeral.

That freak March Heat Wave of a couple of years ago nearly denied my old side a run chase too. We needed 200 and the Sunday was heated out, and were only allowed one reserve day (the following Saturday). I think it was 39 but had it been 40 we wouldn't have been allowed to bat.
