Before the meeting, it was Russell and Ray. When Craig read out the umpires, it was Ray and Chris Whibley. After the meeting, I talked to Peter Berkshire and it was back to Russell and Ray.

I agree with the other sentiments, big deal who it is. I'm always right and they're always wrong... ;)

well that makes it hard, cause im always right aswell.

Be good to get a full 2 days play this year for the semi final, so both the grand finialists have a real good hit out before the big one...

Speaking to Bloods lately about a best eleven for the association that could possibly be named at the end of every year. Is this a good idea?? IMO i think this should happen on the same night that the Hewett Medal is awarded at a association dinner. Something to cap off the year.

My 2008/09 side:

1. Brendan McCormack (vc) (Sheidow)
2. Steven Ford (Sheidow)
3. David Sampson (ICC Sharks)
4. Rusty Curyer (Keswick)
5. Robert Hopkins (c) (Western Youth)
6. Greg Pritchard (Plympton)
7. Ben McCormack (wk) (Western Youth)
8. Daniel Rowe (Glenelg ANA)
9. Matthew Tonkes (ICC Sharks)
10. Justin Calderbank (Coro Ramblers)
11. Mark O'Malley (Glenelg ANA)

12th Man: Bharat Roocke (Morphy Parks) 36 wickets at 5.42 SR of 14.69 (88.1 overs bowled econ of 2.21) batting: 11 games, 7 innings, 4 not outs, 1 not out, best score of 100* and 168 runs at 56.

To me thats a good year and he is playing in there highest grade and is doing this all as captain.

Honorable mention to Justin Smoker from Mitchell Park for his efforts with the ball.

So there is a quick bowling line up of O'Malley, Rowe, Tonkes, Hopkins, Sambo with Pritchard and CUryer bowling meds, and Calderbank thoroughly deserving the slow bowling spot.
Sambo Hopkins and Curyer, all have wickets and bowl, but there in because of there batting and there bowling is just helpful. Pritchard has been plymptons standout and his all round year has got him his spot.

Just back on the cove rumour, if they were to join they would b a top 4 side without doubt IMO. Some really good batters in Comer n Tits, and an opening bowler that gets em down with wheels (name escapes me). Would only be good for the competition i reckon.

You blokes may say you don't care, but I say the best umpires should get Sect 1. Should be based on Captains reports throughout the season. I think it would affect the choice of one of those blokes.

If Cove are as strong as stated you would think they would be Sect 1 side no problem. Anyone recall what has happened in the past when clubs come into the comp.? Which section did WYC start in? We need a couple more decent sides as the bottom 4 or so teams have dropped off remarkably.

Just an idea to throw out there amongst the masses.

ASCA Premier League
8 teams - 2 trophys
7 x 2 week games - 75 overs
7 x 1 week games - 50 overs

Other option if you dont want to add in the 1 day games.

6 teams - 1 trophy
10 x 2 week games - play each team twice, home and away.
Minor premier straight through to the GF, 2 v 3 to play off... same as Sheffield Shield.

Then you can have your sections below - 12 teams per section, 11 games a season.

We started in Section 1 and I believe we have only missed the Top 4 on one occasion in 9 years ( Im sure it is 9 ? Bloods? )

We missed the finals in the first season, we finished 5th IIRC, we were in ASCA which was 9 or 10 years ago, not sure, and haven't missed them since. We did start in section 1 as well AF. I agree the best umpires should do section 1 but as none of us are privy to the captains reports that are sent in besides your own clubs then who is to say they aren't the top umpires, according to the umpire reports.

I know im not laughing at that decision, with last weeks effort of 7/42 off 21 overs or sumthing along those lines i would say the statistics speak for themselves mate.

ICC's first season they wanted section 2 or 3 and got 5.

I think the quotient at the end of the season was above 3.

how can ford miss out and mccormack get the gig as keeper? the only reason i had mccormack keeping is because i think it would be easier having the opening bat fielding but think mccormack should be in at 7. berry in my view with 25 wickets, and 236 at 26. calderbank deserves the spot and cant drop ford for wat he has done, and wat berry has done!!!

and for the bloke laughing at calderbank, he has taken 31 wickets at 11.13 and an economy rate of 2.34! thats a cracking year!
