But we don’t really care what you think. We only care what the boys from Wood Rech think.. and as none of them have approached us face to face with any issues, they obviously have no issue with us having a private beer first before we went into the bar and bought drinks there…
And we thank the Woody boys for their understanding… Good bunch of lads….

One of the guys lost his mother and it was the first time we were all together as a team to have a beer with/for him.. Im sure the Boys from Woody Rech understood the private nature of the moment and they would have seen the armbands that were all wearing during this game.. But we still went into the bar to have a couple of drinks each after we had one with our team mate...

What game were you talking about mate???

mickey wrote:How hard is it for visiting clubs (A1) to go into the home clubrooms for a beer instead of sitting on the oval with a esky....

Even the LOE blokes playing on the oval next door managed to visit the clubrooms after the game...

Still a disgrace to bring your own beers to a club that sell beer over the bar.
I know for a fact that the Secretary of WRCC spoke to one of the Goodwood boys and there was no mention of having a beer for one of the lads whose mother had just recently passed away......from what i have been told the Goodwood player said "that every other club does it so why can't we" - so I think your getting your facts wrong

where has the good ol' days gone of going into the opposition clubrooms and having a beer and a bit of banter after the game between the two clubs
Of course..

But I encourage all turf clubs to make the most of their contacts to help promote their clubs any way they can....

I heard Marion might have Dan Cullen making an appearance for them, and if the club can promote or make money off Dan playing for them (and Dan is ok with that), good on Marion!!!

Dan has played 3 T20's for us in the last two years, but due to working in the mines hasnt been able to play this season. We are hopefull that we may be able to get him for a couple of two dayers now if he isnt required at West Torrens for that game.

So Roo Boy, sounds like the Rechabites weren't as happy about you guys bringing your own beer as you may have thought. Probably too wrapped up in your own importance to notice at the time.
By my calculations an opposition club taking their own carton and drinking it after the game costs that club about $120. Doesn't sound like a lot of money but I am sure they would rather have it in their till.
Clubs should take a stance and stop saying "well other clubs do it"

Clearly you need to loosen your grip and build a bridge.

If you want to take the moral high ground set an example and be the first into the Goodwood bar next time you visit.....

People like you are the reason things wont change. You are obviously from a club that regularly does this and I hope for the sake of cricket you will open your eyes and stop. I always go into the opposition clubrooms for a beer after the game.
I hope the ATCA steps in. It should be part of the spirit of cricket

For the sake of 1 beer for a private moment your rant is unjustified. Think I read that they went in for 1 after and seeing as the ATCA seem to mess around the program by reducing the amount of cricket played is a bigger issue to sort out than worrying about if opposition clubs have a beer from the home club.

For the record I play Grade cricket and time does not always allow for me to have drinks with opposition clubs due to club commitments. Also have close ties to the club you are slagging off.

Congratulations on playing grade cricket, I too have played grade cricket which fills me with so much pride.
You are missing the point, yes it started about Goodwood because they are the most recent club to have done this that has been posted on this forum, but I am saying that all clubs need to change. Why do they feel it necessary to bring a carton of beer. Yes they wanted to have a beer on their own to show respect, that I have no problem with, but why not buy the beer from inside the club and then go and sit on their own

Because unless the Liquor License covers the oval that would be illegal to buy it at the Bar and take it out onto the Oval.

I have played against and Umpired Goodwood and can say they are one of the better Clubs going around at going in for a beer and generally having a chat after the game. There would be a lot worse clubs that you should be having a crack at.

Yep our club AHOS is also bad at it. A few of us usually go into the opposition club but these days seem less and less hang around. Also seems that beers are brought most weeks and I guess alot of that stems from us playing at home with no bar facilities I can definitely see the point. Young blokes these days just dont seem interested. Take things on the ground too personally. As I said I almost always generlaly with another bloke or two go into the opposition clubrooms unless I ahve soemthing I need to get to quickly but for some reason it jsut doesnt seem to happen anymore.

After a whirlwind stay, doesn't feel like he has been here more than a few days! But alas, it is time for Henrique to fly home to his mother, you will be pleased to know that he loved his time in Adelaide. Which leads me to believe that he will be back sooner rather than later, this excites me greatly. I really want to be a part of this young mans life from now on.

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Is this remark aimed in my direction, even if its not. Being an advocate, enthusiast and idolizer of multiple internet forums, I have never seen "aka" used in a derogatory, spiteful manner as which you have used it? Only as an acronym for "also known as".

could you elaborate on your statement "on_a_length"?

Your stories are boring and you're an armchair cricketer who seems to only slate clubs and players, but nobody has spoken to you or seen you at a game

You must be omniscience to know this about me, so what sort of cricketer are you? I presume you will be at SHOC in the morning? Are you one of the new influx of paid players at Man City? I was going to head to Payneham in the morning, but I think that I will check the bus timetables and pack my deck chair and head to SHOC, make sure you come and introduce yourself.
