Nothing like a bloodless coup on tour, overthrowing the skipper to galvanise the playing group..

Last 2 Carnivals the SA skipper has made a collective 0 from 6 hits (the first 3 hits from each of the 2008 & 2010 Carny). You got bit by the Marshall Curse, Dutchy... ;)

Pretty quiet on this forum. Give us something u blokes. Or is everyone now on Burgo's facebook churches page instead? We should be talking up Dutchy's debut at NEK or Enfields rise to Divvy 1.

Not sure why some blokes are picking Rose Park. No Shark, Cougar, Reidy, Ralph, Bruce-Gordon, Riddle, Hendo and the mercurial Rob O'Gorman this week.

I'm going to back Enfield in to be competitive this season in div 1. I think the step up will bring the best out of some of the lads, and it's about time blokes like Gully and Potts were playing up there.

here are my thoughts on round 1 :

Enfield United A v Adelaide Lutheran A - Enfield will be top of ladder after round 1 with all of the big time recruits
Rose Park A v Para Vista Lutheran A - Rick Marshall to turn up to the game late, have a bat and bowl and leave
Fitzroy A v North Eastern Knights A - Dutchy to bat 11 and make a golden duck

B grade

North Eastern Knights B v Magill Morialta A - Smasha to finally retire from Div 1 sat morning and play b grade
Para Vista Lutheran B v Seaton A - Goatherder to smack a hundred and be named captain/coach of assoc team
Adelaide Lutheran B v Enfield United B - Draw

C grade

Adelaide Lutheran C v Fitzroy B - Auto to finally retire from Div 1 sat morning and play b grade
Seaton B v Western XI Knights - Seatons opening bowler to continue to hide in B grade - will scalp 10 wickets in this game!
Magill Morialta B v Enfield United C - Draw

D grade

Enfield United D v Brooklyn Park Uniting - Draw
Fitzroy C v Rose Park B - Draw
Central Mission v Wingfield Royals - Draw

Close but not quite right. In the team named last night there are 6 players missing from last years gf, you have 5 of them in your 7 (Rob O not included). Having said that we only named 10 in the team because we are hopeful 1 of those 6 will answer an SOS! Not happy with the early start to the season we are really struggling to find players this week :(

Hopefully there won't be any rain delays tomorrow and the captains keep the games moving.

Otherwise there could be an interesting situation such as:

5:30pm, getting dark, no daylight savings yet, a team is 7/100 chasing 200 with 10 overs still to go. Will both captains agree on whether to continue play or not?

Thats a good point. We've been starting training at 5pm and even then have to rush through the batters because it gets dark so quickly. I'm looking outside now and its pretty dark although overcast.

Fingers crossed we get a sunny afternoon and no rain delays.

My uneducated season predictions are

A-Grade:
(looks like a higher standard than last year with quite a few recruits)
Rose Park
Adelaide Lutheran
North Eastern Knights
Para Vista
Fitzroy
Enfield

B-Grade:
(any of the top 4 could win)
Magill Morialta
Seaton
Para Vista
Adelaide Lutheran
Enfield
North Eastern Knights

C-Grade:
(most even grade I reckon - any team could win)
Seaton
Adelaide Lutheran (will depend on our depth and hence whether we can afford to play our club legends in Jongeneel, M Borgas, Blight etc. in this grade)
Fitzroy
Enfield
Western XI
Magill Morialta

D-Grade:
(potentially a big gap between the top 2 and the rest)
Brooklyn Park
Rose Park
Central Mission
Enfield
Fitzroy
Wingfield

I think the light will depend on the weather, this week when the weather has beem good, its been pretty light until around 6:30 or so. Looks awful right now, but supposed to clear up by lunch tomorrow.

As gor your scenario, surely it would be a draw if the light gets too bad? One team may want to play and win, but there is OH&S to worry about as well and players welfare.
