So its all about saying you play on turf in B grade?

Indeed Grade 1 looks like a good standard this year
but then look at Grade 2 - there should not be any B Grade sides in there - the depth of PDCA falls away very quickly now
then go to Div 5 & 6 which only have 11 teams combined

I must confess I dont know the answers to fix it

needless to say that The Lodge will always remember where it come from and will continue to be a part of the PDCA, we just wont have out A & B Grade sides in it

I guess you could say is that we are looking at trying to have the best of both worlds, by catering for players of all abilities and offering both turf and hard wicket comps to play in, so it is in our best interest to keep the PDCA up and running as strong as possible

LM, I for one would be very disappointed if we had blokes go and take spots from other blokes if they got rained out - thats how you stuff a club up and I dont think there are to many people in the club that would go for it - but I am sure the club is willing to work with the PDCA exec to put in place rules to ensure it doesn't happen

very simplistic way of looking at it

it is more about opportunity to play - the club doesnt want to play in the B comp but you have to start somewhere

at the end of the day you wont be able to judge it in the first few seasons

success will be measured when you will look back after 5-10 years see where the club is at in both comps, number of sides and how financial the club is

Not for me its not!

I'm not going to try and defend the decision, we are doing what we think is best for the club. Most of the people involved with making this decision will not use the pitch or will only use it for a very short period of time.

Can we move on?

Of course we will continue to support the PDCA, we are still going to have 3 teams in the PDCA next season.

What is the average amount of teams per club LM - I figure you'd have an idea?

Who knows - Our "C" grade could be playing as high as grade 2,3 PDCA eventually if run correctly.

Brahma Lodge are obviously are a strong club but there is a lot of competetion north of the city for turf clubs, and with some of those clubs offering big money - Gepps Cross, Pooraka and Ingle Farm (reportedly)- They may find it difficult with no juniors to move up the A grade ranks.

The club currently have a number of strong links with NDCC and are hopeful of a partnership supporting the SACA's new community cricket initiatives to launch next season, this would add to he validity

The club are also aware that it is still essentially a community club and will strive to play at the best possible level without challenging the other big turf clubs in the region with cash incentives

bothamsfearnley wrote:Wow, some massive assumptions there LM. I'm not here to be the spokesman for the club but you have come up with a good footy/cricket consipiracy that just does not exist. I can tell you that like most clubs we work with each other - strong footy helps strong cricket and vis versa but we dont make decisions like going to turf just to get them up the SAAFL div ladder!

I never said the PDCA was extinct, far from it, in fact I went so far as to clarify that point. But the SCA is and they have been losing clubs for years. Hallett Cove went to Adelaide Suburban last year - just one more in a line of clubs over the past 20 years leaving a once proud comp crippled.

We have no intention of trying to wreck the PDCA by stacking lower grade sides. Why would we want fringe turf players going back playing div5 PDCA?? that just does not make sense. We will have to see how that works out - no one can know how that is going to be sorted out yet - if the PDCA dont love us anymore maybe adelaide and suburban or churches will have us :)

And finally, our long term viability IS a major factor - We are in an old area and dont have juniors. we are trying and have tried really hard to get them over the last five years but it just isnt happening. None of us old guys are getting any younger. I reckon the clubs north of elizabeth should be absolutely dominating this comp already by the simple fact that you have massive poulation advantages how many junior sides do craigmore and smithfield have?

we dont want you's!!! ;)
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

I have no qualms about you guys leaving, just know how inviting it is for local dickheads to do a few doughies on a turf pitch. I wish the BLCC all the best in what will be a new and exciting era for you.
