Creek v Nairne match ABANDONED. I think more could've and would've been done if the Creeks wern't out of finals contention.

Also what would be wrong with playing 'A' grade matches at Strath High School?
Have played a few 'A' Grade games there over the years. What would be the drama with it ?

************* Apparently the Creek v Nairne game is now back ON at MONARTO ********************
Very late notice re change of venue is gonna have some players pretty pissed off as some had already made other plans after being told it had been abandoned. There are also concerns about the state of the Monarto oval, oh well, we'll find out soon enough.

Nairne all out 153 (41st over) Harrowfield saved them again, 50 odd
Creeks batted disgracefully to be dismissed for 66 in the 20th over.
Very little application or fight shown by a number af batsmen more content in trying to smash their way to a win is giving the Creeks a poor reputation.

Heard that Strath did their usual trick and beat a more fancied team.
Woodside 138 Strath 4/139 Abbott brothers 40 odd each.

Heard their was an AMAZING scoreline at Ashbourne. How did they even play there on the turf considering Strath and Creeks pitches were saturated?
Ashbourne 162
Hahndorf were 0/64 after 12 overs before suffering one of the most amazing collapes EVER in losing 10/11 over the next 21 overs to be all out for 75

I thought Strath High oval might be a bit small for As but if it has been done before then no worries. Glad the Strath A2s got a game in especially with finals hinging on it.

Congrats to Strath and Ashbourne on their wins over the favorites. The Ashbourne boys all batted well and Stiddo with a 5 for dismantled Hahndorf with the ball. It was apparently quite a spectacular collapse.

Ashbourne pitch was a touch damp but definately playable, just have to put it down to good curating and a fair bit of luck.

Any news from the Wistow V Lobethal game?

Big win for Lobey over Wistow - top order fired for Lobey in a pretty convincing display!
Strath have done it again - just when you think they're gone, back with a big win!!
That score line for Hahndorf sounds bizarre! Can't have been too bad a pitch at Ashbourne if the home team managed 160!

It's fine for a reserve ground.
Has got short side boundries but same for both sides.
The ground is flat and well grassed which is in direct contrast to grounds like Wistow and Monarto but hey, it is country cricket afterall.

Top win yesterday for strath and all results went there way with 3 of the top 4 teams losing. Strath have snuck back in the 4, ashbourne beating hahndorf was the biggest surprise of the day.
Courier cup semi finals today meadows v woodside and nairne v strath, be interesting to see which teams are close to full strength. Have heard that meadows have rested a few due to country carnival coming up but would still back them to win. Strath beat nairne just before Xmas so could be a tight contest.

time for a bit of hills talk with 5 weeks left before finals. after this weekends games the ladder should read:

Meadows clearly on top
Mt Lofty 1/2 game clear of the next 2
SCIBS
Uraidla

Onkas 1 & 1/2 games out of the 4
Aldgate winless

Lofty, SCIBS & Uris are all separated by a few points. The last three games will be crucial for these teams as to how the ladder will finish. If Onkas grab a few wins they could be in the hunt as well.

Creeks have made at least 5 changes for tomorrows 'A' Grade clash with Lobethal who pretty much require an Out right win to realistically have a chance to steal a finals spot. Lobey may well fancy their chances when they see the Creeks list. One influential Creek player is reported to have switched to lawn bowls.

Tip - Creeks to maintain their undefeated record against Lobey on the back of a BIG Johnson ton.

Wont bother with tips for other matches as i'm the worst tipster.
Will be interesting to see if there will be any strange declarations or deals done in the last 2 rounds as invariably happens in the scramble to grab a finals spot.

Goldy playing bowls, shouldn't be too long until he gets suspended and comes back

My tips are:

Woodside V Nairne. What a belter of a match. Could go either way but I'm going to tip Nairne, only because I think they are a better 2 day outfit.
Lobey V Langhorne Creek. Lobey on a roll and with some good form in the past few weeks to beat Creeks. Sorry Jackpot.
Hahndorf V Wistow should also be a great match but I think Wistow with a more experienced team will bounce back better from last weeks loss and take it out.
Strath V Ashbourne. Strath have proven themselves giant killers this year, therefore I think Ashbourne will push Strath and win in a close encounter.

Good luck to everyone playing this week in all teams and grades, should be a great day for playing cricket :D

Johnson only made 69.
Evergreen Creek personality 'Nobby' 'Kakoda' Aworth chipped in with a unusually controlled and measured innings of 45 n.o.
Creeks 168 (55 overs)

Lobey looking for an unlikely outright result to keep their slender finals chances alive came out swinging and got to 1/97 at stumps, Hackett the main run getter finished about 65 odd n.o.

Hahndorf 211 v Wistow.

Strath 152 v Ashbourne 2/33.
Willy Fowlston had another day out with the ball, wheeling down 23 immaculate overs, collecting 5/38.

Willston did bowl exceptionally well again yesterday and backed up his awesome performance last week where he weaved a deft web of deception. He had great support from all the Ashbourne bowlers who bowled very well in partnerships, with the whole team fielding exceptionally.

All of the matchs look quite evenly poised after week 1 and could go either way. Should prove for some interesting and exciting cricket in week 2. A great round of cricket!

I'm guessing Col's gonna try and blast a quick hundred more runs and put the pressure back on the Creek to bat out the day. Don't write off Lobey yet folks - they just might be the dark horse for that final spot in the four!

Nairne should get the biccies over Woodside although you never know how that long batting line-up will hold up against the strong Woodside attack. I see Nairnes gun recruit Matty Crook has returned to the A grade after a spell in the A2's....interesting to see if he can get the Razorbacks home and have a big role in the finals. And is there a rumour that Crooky could take over the gloves for the finals.....

I see Strath's batting pulled up a bit short again....so much potential in that line-up - how they don't score over 200 every week! And how good is this Fowlston! Just checking out My Cricket and he has 31 wickets at 12.65 and has bowled 164 overs with an economy rate just over 2 - someone tell me the last time there was a spinner in A&EHCA who had figures like that?? Other than Wombles last year :)

And Hahndorf regrouped after last weeks loss to build a respectable score! Good to see Andrew Baker back in the line-up after being MIA last week :)

Gonna be a super finals series

The mercurial Willy took another swag of wickets today in the Country Carnival. Playing for Alexandra, Willy came on to bowl the 17th over with Rocky River at 2/69 chasing Alexandras' score of 143.
10.3 overs later and Rocky River were ALL OUT for 106 with Willy claiming the amazing figures of 6/12 off 5.3 overs =D>
Willy also collected 3 scalps in the 2nd innings for a match haul of 9.

The man lives for the sole purpose of systematically exposing a batsman's weaknesses and peeling back his ego until it stripped bare and he remains a quivering mess, begging for mercy at the crease. It is then that Wilson strikes, with alarming ferocity, and little regard for the shell shocked, ego stripped, former batsman that is his prey. The batsman departs the arena, battered, weary, demoralised, and certain to recount for years to come the storey of the time he had the misfortune of facing five for Fowlston.

Great work 'five for' and congratulations on another haul. :D

The Willy may be getting a bit tired with all this bowling in very UN English conditions. Hot & Dry

Today taking only 3/40 off 15 overs in another heartbreaking loss for the Alexandra boys, going down by 1 solitary run to the lads from Tatiara.
