Still ongoing i think, no one knows what is going on. We were all warned this would happen years ago, looks like they were right. Any truth in the report the secretary resigned his position? Who is doing the job now?

not sure bigstack i never bothered to ask our delegate that. Maybe squids or AD might be able to give us an answer as he knows everything that went on at the meeting. If it is true i would probably guess they would try and get a wandies official or a south port one that will do as he is told.

actually cant anyone apply for the secretarys job, surely someone from 1 of the 5 clubs that are scared of ports taking over would apply for it!!!

Port Oval issue is becoming a little boring, let the officials sort it out. We have to find a secretary. My nominations are from the following and i have not included anyone from the three b grade teams, i don't think they would be interested.
prop - holly hosking
risdon - l mcauliffe
wandearah - krusty congdon (fav as he is ass sec)
southport - bertie crocker
solly- j leske
random selections - matt ganley, peter flower, grumpy warwick

comments and odds welcome.

Oops. You are correct.

My shirt is in Pirie so I didn't have it on hand to look at. but it will be changed anyway.

Lenny Starke from Strykers wouldn't be that much of a long shot. Sucker for power he is. Taking over the Strykers hockey club and running the cricket club. He'd love having a position within the league so he can try and stand over people.

You would have to elect someone from props with their knowledge of the Associations Incorporations Act and the constitution all legal responsibilities will be adhered too.

yep i agree bigstack the novelty of port oval issues has worn off and we all should let the powers that be sort all the cricket issues out. On with the season i say.
The person who i would suggest as sec may be mud harmer, robert simpson, trevor hoskin, johnny leske, jimmy anastasiou stix williams, marcus webb,.
id dought you could have peter flower, matt ganley or grumpy warwick as they would make clubs and executives go by our laws and constitution to much and obviously there is people and clubs that dont want that as squids is slyly suggesting.
be interesting if any cricket at all is played this weekend with all the rain we have had certainly would think turf would not be playable and with new carpets on complex they would be as wet as a shag and the globe oval one is always wet.

best of luck to ALL clubs players and officials for the coming season.

Squids wrote:I can't understand what you are saying, all I know is Risdon clearly stated at the beginning of last season that we would struggle for players and for us to be double up. This was all fine until Lenny Starke had a cry at a meeting and got our points taken away. From then on no one at Risdon really knew the rule, no one did. Enough about that I have a premiership medal and am very confident in getting a second this year.

I believe it was only props. I believe here it is PROPS sooking, find new ways to make cash and get on with it.

whatever you risdon clown, you wont win anything. All i know is we have enough money with our main man martlew sponsoring us at the sporty tavern so maybe your club will support us and come drink at our sponsors pub? I was told there was five clubs that were prepared not to play at ports? FIVE CLUBS OUT OF EIGHT and i honestly beleive that they want to get everything sorted so they can get on with playing cricket. So stop blaming us and props i would say.
Not hard to understand the rules as they are all there in black and white for everyone to read or cant you read?
END of story i am sick of trying to explain everything to you as you are obviously lacking a little bit of nous.

so with 'enough money' from your main sponsor why are you claiming that the loss of revenue will kill your club? to my knowledge you could still sell soft drinks and eats there, the sign on the gate only says no byo alcohol, surely the pleasure of playing on a magnificent oval is enough to give up the piss for 6 hrs!!!

i think props are actually in financial trouble and they have just convinced a few clubs to back them up!!!

also i think you dont want to play at port because of the bad memories of that guy who tore through your batting line up last year in the A's there against risdons

WHAT? a risdon bowler cleaned a side up? Can never remember a guy from risdon cleaning anyone up would you like to rejog my memory? we got bowled out cheaply most weeks!

So much for Risdon not training until mid January.

Does the "where not playing on your oval because we cant sell beer from the boot of our car" competition start tomorrow?
And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it illegal to sell alcohol without a license? Not sure myself maybe Pirie has its own legislation.
I hope your comp sorts itself out and the game of cricket is the winner.

Yes we finally get to play cricket tomorrow, hopefully the pitches have dried by tomorrow morning...they were soaked at 5 when I had a look.

You might be right beardman, maybe ask props about the Liquor Licencing Act, maybe it is illegal, I don't know.

wow you seem to know about all clubs finances if you put your address on here all clubs could drop you off some sums of the money they lose. 10 - 15 cans or bottles a game are you serious, you must belong to the tea drinking club!

some of my reply matt oh sorry mate is in between your spin, sorry but i just put down 15 tins by MYSELF!

You should be easy to spot if you have 15 tins before the end of a game.
If that is the case though make sure you tell them to bowl short at you, get a juicy half volley and you might go for driving under the influence!

Good luck all today, hopefully some cricket is played, thats what we all want!

Congrats to the Port Germein sharks who had their first ever win today, over Sollies. Great for the club to get a win with all the youngsters they have out there. Sollies seem to be a very different team from last year, it seems all the older guys that played purely to win a flag last year are not playing anymore.

Also saw Wandearah Agrade beat Warnertown and Risdon beat a weak Props side in the Bgrade.

No idea about Southport v Strykers, maybe it was called off or they could be playing in the afternoon.

Disappointing to see the afternoon A grade game at Globe between props and southport called off because southport were worried about the conditions. Didn't worry anyone in the B grade game played there in the morning.

Congratulations to Port Germein.
Fluff is doing a great job with those kids out there.
Good to see Props promote some younger players in the B Grade today. Young Bauer batted very very well.
Like you AD, Im very surprised that the A Grade didnt play at Globe.

No No Risdon had an umpire
He was just 80 metres away from the stumps at "square leg"

He told me that Doc Rasheed was starting to look towards that square leg region to score runs, and he wanted to be a safe distance.

You'd hate to field in close to a guy who hits it as cleanly as the Doctor.

When I popped into the Sportsman's Tavern for a few pots after the game I saw Doc Rasheed's odds for the Recorder Medal had shortened into 6/1 after 40 runs and three wickets today
