We are creating an aerobic base as well as core strengthening. This will be a long term program not just for this season but also for future seasons.
Why core work? Its the one area of the body where you want to be strong to play cricket for extended periods, Bowlers, Fielders & Batters will all benefit from improved core strength.
Although the session lasted for 2 1/2 hours there were plenty of breaks between exercises as well resting & stretching.

Funny you say that...I was speaking to a bloke from work who knows someone who might not be playing there this year, and it's nothing to do with work.. I take my hat off to you Suns but I mean this in the nicest way...most people play hard wicket to chill out.. I'm not knocking you or what your doing it's just that it's gotta be kept simple.. Def nothing wrong with a warm up..but core strengthening in early aug? In grade 2 of pdca? Just doesn't seem right..but hey good luck to you and I hope the players stick by you..

Rose & Crown: Would have to start the season off as favourites and would be keen to make amends of losing a home GF and handing Brahma Lodge the ultimate parting gift. With a healthy top order with plenty of scoring options and the Jimmy factor, they should be looking more dangerous this season.
Salisbury West: Any team boasting Ozolins, Scotty Mac, McInnes and Davies in it would have to be considered a force. They exploited plenty of youth last season to go with the compliment of talent that was already on offer at Westies.
They cruised along last season and unfortunately due to the weather they never got the chance to prove themselves at the big dance, they will be better for it this season though.
Angle Vale: With some big scalps last season Angle Vale would've gained plenty of confidence in their group to enter their 3rd season of Grade 1. Their batting struggled at times but an endless supply of bowlers was enough cover for that, another top order batsman would certainly catapult their Grand Final hopes.
Virginia: The bogey side of the comp, capable of beating anyone on their day but also capable of falling in a heap. I'm sure 11/12 will see them be just as inconsistent but at the same time produce some stellar results. With Jonny, Al and Bascombe all going again their destiny will be in their own hands.
Smithfield: A strong finish to 10/11 has given the playing group a renewed hope for the future, with plenty of kids around that have gained experience I'd expect them to be a bit more competitive on a regular basis. A consistent top order batsman to relieve some pressure off of Morris and Hannun would be more than welcomed, getting a full season out of Bateson would provide them with the extra bit of variety they need with the ball.
Central United: If the Picton story is true then I can see a promising year for the Units, they will start off similar to Smithfield in 10/11 where it took some time to find their feet and adjust to Grade 1. They have it all, youth and experience, with 3 batsmen topping 400+ last season in Grade 2 and some tidy bowlers they shouldn't be taken lightly, they've been biding their time in Grade 2 and waiting til they are ready, which they are now.
Parafield Gardens: If they keep Hanson they will be a dangerous side this season, they have other options with the bat but they need the big fella to guide the ship and allow players like Suridge, Hillen and Wills to play supporting roles.
They could probably do with another bowling option though, Pargaliti and Lynch are a good opening combination but once they come off they struggle for bowling partnerships.
One Tree Hill: The loss of Cree is going to hurt them on the field with his all-round abilities, I haven't heard of any confirmed signings yet but nothing would surprise me with the Billy Goats. A proud club who under-achieved last season and would be searching for ways to turn it around this season, they still have plenty of talent around, they just need to produce it consistently.

cricket4life wrote:the training regime up at craigmore has caused quite a stir on the forum hasnt it. whether its the right thing to do, are craigmore taking things too seriously, are players going to enjoy it, is craigmore keeping to the family orientated message they try and push. all these questions being raised.
personally i dont think i could do what sounds like a bit of a boot camp style training regime for a pre season. but its each to there own. i suppose if we see craigmore sitting at the top of div 2 come the end of the year and as a result returning to div 1 next season you would have to say job well done to geoff. he has done what craigmore hasnt done for the last 4 years or so. but i feel to justfy this amount of professionalism and effort, results have to follow. if craigmore fail to make div 1 by seasons end you would have to question either whether the playing group is good enough, whether there is an element of burn out towards the end of the season, or simply the training has not worked.
i know the season has not started yet, but i think this is one debate that i look forward to seeing the results come easter time in 2012. complete failure or genius success? time will tell
