A bit like the NBA format with East v West (i think thats what it is in the NBA), but involving sides from North v South.

Bit hard to do it with so many southern sides, but i was thinking something along the lines of North v South of Daws Rd (or similar).

So Northern sides would include: WYC, Keswick, Morphy Parks South Road, North Haven, Cavaliers, Kenilworth, Plympton, Warradale, Glenelg ANA etc:

Southern Sides: Sheidow, Cove, ICC, Coro, Ramblers, Southern, Woodcroft, Belair, Mitchell Park, Panaroma, Clapham etc:

Just a rough guess at where they are (in Keswicks instance, even though the oval is south of Daws Rd, Keswick is actually South of it, hence them on the South Side, plus it also then gets 6 section 1 sides in each side).

Would be a good annual fundraiser for a different charity or something along those lines, to played at different ovals each year.

The sides that could be playing based on last year stats pretty much with highest runs and wickets on each side:

Southern:
1. Michael Thomas
2. Darren Thomas
3. Dave Sampson
4. Matthew Smith
5. Jai Koirala (c)
6. Sam Foster
7. Dave Wright (only keeper i could think of. Loizi not taken into account as he is not a cricketer)
8. Ben Cameron
9. Josh Lourens
10. Matthew Tonkes
11. Chris Winning

Northern:
1. Jake Whenan
2. Matt King
3. Rusty Curyer
4. Robbie Hopkins (c)
5. Heath McKay
6. Cohen Mattner
7. Ben McCormack
8. Daniel Rowe
9. Mark Whenan (most wickets from a spinner on northern side with only 17, your crap...unfortunately had to pick him)
10. Anthony May
11. Daniel Florence

So basically WYC vs the rest is what you were trying to say? Good concept though can't see it happening!!

....maybe if blokes from other clubs did something they would get a gig....like CK said it was based on stats alone so with nothing else to go on other than reputation, which wont get u in to every side, it appears to be a pretty spot on list for both sides.

This is my laaaaaaaaaaaand......yeah yeah

Not really, although it is close with 5 being picked.
As I said I just wrote names from the stats from last year. If I was actually picking a side, I would have gone Blesing instead of Winning in the side, steve McRae would be in it somewhere even though he is not in the best batting or bowling stats.. Pretty much stats based so hard to argue with mate.
One wicket for 250 won't get you picked in the side mate

Pretty sure Craig Lawn voted in favour of motion 5.

Sheidow went in wanting 6 teams so would be very surprised if someone has overruled the committee on that nomination

I am positive the person last night said that they would only be fielding 5 teams this year. They were right behind me.

Might be best to check with Craig Lawn and see what he has recorded.

Maybe Jim is making my recollection a little hazy :D

I think Jim did make your memory hazy bloods, confirmation of SPCC having nominated 6 teams for the upcoming season.

Not the first and probably won't be the last that Jim has that effect on me.

In the next 3 days we will know if this 7+7 comp will get off the ground. Will be run separately to the other sections. If it does get up Craig Lawn wil have to re draw all the sections from probably sec 3 down.

We hope that Russ King has an enjoyable time at the North Haven Cricket Club as he has been recently appointed as their coach for the upcoming season.

We know he enjoyed his time with us and achieved what he came to achieve with us in winning a premiership, managed to get two of them in fact, as well as the broken jaw :D will never forget the schnitzel he ate the next day.

He was a good player for our club and i hope he and North Haven have a good time working together.

Weren't WYC looking for a coach? Russ not up to the YC standards?

He was brought to the club as a "Junior Coach" afterall, oh and he could play A grade on the side. ;)
