from what i hear appartently J.Kuss and A.evans where not selected due to not getting along with a team mate ( Moller) for one kuss has done more with ball and bat than moller sitting third in the association for bowling ?? id have to say thats bias if anything having Cammie as captain has the say on whos in or not! so i think thats the biggest crock of shart to come out of this selection! you pick the best of the available players if im not correct? and moller certainly shouldnt be one of them! lydeamore has taking more wickets than moller! so its definatly not the best available players! all be it good luck to the crays today should be a fun game played on ashbourne!

IMO Moller is a much better selection than Kuss. Despite what the wickets column says he is a far more dangerous bowler, especially on turf, which 3 of the 4 grounds (Ashbourne, Strath, Creek) they will be playing on are. Elliot make himself n/a or something because he is very stiff if that's not the case. Also what about young T Williamson, was he in any contention??

GSCA all out for 99. Bryce made 40-odd and I don't reckon anyone else got double figures.

SCA made them 6 down. One bloke (Scarff I think) made a half century. Moules took 2 for, Donaldson 1 & Moller 3.

The pitch looked pretty good despite the low scoring. Garrard & Scarff looked a class above the rest.

Just an observation (not a criticism), but I thought Hatji was a bit unlucky not to get a bowl, especially on the turf. An experienced A Grade District cricketer who has bagged some big scalps for SDCC over the years may have had an impact. But I guess that is just one of those 'what if' scenarios.

I reckon you are right there, Jimmy with turf being the deciding factor with young Moules and Moller getting the nod over Evans, Kuss etc. Evans & Kuss would have done alright if given the chance, but being young blokes will have plenty of future opportunities for the Crays. I heard Tommy Williamson was playing Invitation, but don't quote me on that! Brucey did play in place of Dzamko.

look like WIW24! moller wasnt my first pick but kuss over moules or even hatji? and lydeamore over moller by far 40 wickets in turf cricket in town should surely get the look over moller!

I probably dont agree there Bloods, I think Moller is a more dangerous all round player than lydeamore, although Liddy is quite a bowler

As for Kuss and Moules, Toss up there, either player would have performed well.

Think a major restructure needs to occur with association selection though, players should be picked based on form, not reputation, agree with most of this yrs current side though, was just suprised Hatji didnt bowl on turf as he has loads more of experience than any other bowler in the league

evans wasnt picked in the side this year coz he has take 12 wickets at 23. has bowled more over than anyone in the comp and is sitting well back in the wickets. hes also made 165 runs in 9 hits, what does he play as, a fielder? end of discussion.

moules is an automatic selection, chosen to play in the fleurieu and districts side in the senior country carnival. taken 16 wickets at 9. bowls good heat. and finished the weekend with 5/40 odd over the two days only just missing out on the team of the year, justified selection i would have thought.

kussy was stiff not to play but didnt help his case when he didnt rock up to training on the sunday. i myself was out till 4 o'clock saturday night but still managed to get to training. its not just about numbers, doing the right thing also counts. Hatji changed travel plans to make himself availble.

moller played instead of lydeamore because hes a better all round cricketer. had nothing to do with not getting on with blokes or any bull$hit like that. hes the best spinner in the comp, he made himself available so he plays. nothing against lydeamore, but i know who i'd rather have bowling to me.

apart from a couple of blokes who were unavailable it was probably the best team we could have put on the park. well done to Bryce on being the high bat for the weekend and making the team of the year along with sean connor, bruce elliot.

I think the first day was at Ashbourne? The few times I've seen that it's pretty green.. how about Saturday? Where did you guys play Sunday?

played both days at ashbourne. pitch was slow. not alot of pace to work with as a batsman. which made it bit harder to score runs. definately played better on the sunday than it did on the saturday. was really dry and dusty. turned a fair bit. have definately played on worse pitches. great spot ashbourne. cheers to leroy and crew for their hospitality

Moules bowled with sum heat on sunday, fastest i hav seen in gsca since i hav been in the a grade! keeper and slips ova a pitch back
Adam bowled very well and had all bats that faced him in abit of bother even had rosa looking like a hack
kuss and evans would have been in side if they trained but they shot themselves in the foot.

Some people should not comment about such things as selsection for meyer shield, when they would struggle to be selected in any other A grade in our comp

Look every one is entiled to an opinion but would we be having this discussion if they made 200 on saturday? Sure cameron could have probably done things diferently but trying to defend 90 as a captain doesn't leave alot of room to try things. Yes i would have bowled hatji, opened with him in fact. Would of got connor to keep and picked skater, the guy with the most runs in the league, to open the batting. Also guys that dont train dont get picked. Things worked for the crays sunday but not when it counted. Also tomo requires an op after injuring his knee batting sunday. Gonna hurt pongy.

yeah totally agree anyone can perform after losing on the first day and being knocked out of the running. ( no pressure) The non selection of pacitti is a strange one,how many times do you see either the leading runscorer or wicket taker being overlooked. As for Hatji we have an ex A grade district opening bowler, and i heard he didnt even bowl on the first day! yes wiw the whole selection process needs to be revamped !

Agreed

But it's over now, the side looked good on paper, but just a few changes are needed before we ever be competitive, On a bright Note. Saw that Torrens Valley were winners including one Ex GS player Rob "The Worm" Coloiacovo, Well done to the Worm......

Heard a rumour tonight that Lintern, Moller and Moules maybe out this weekend due to injury and tiredness. Apparently the walk from Strathalbyn to Encounter Bay on Sunday night was rather strenuous!
