Will any Plympton players be playing?... Shirts over bellies not quite tucked in to the footy shorts?

Honestly Booney, I've also heard the same kind of proposal around North Haven, and I totally agree with it.

Really like the idea of 1 game every 2nd week.

And to stop stacking sides, there has to be at least 1 (or even maybe 2) 2 days teams nominated before you can nominate a 1 day team. This will stop the likes of Woodcroft and Clapham etc stacking the 1 day comp with an "A" grade side.

--------

As for ICC changes to the weather policy... 44 on finals!?!?! WTF? Obviously the heat has sent them loco down south. The current rule of 40 is fine. Let's all be honest here. The "premier" cricket comp here in SA is SACA, with 2nd going to Adelaide Turf. ASCA would be 3rd. We aren't in training to play state cricket so use the sensible approach where it comes to weather. Stop trying to change the rules so some idiot can maybe win an extra game in a 3rd ranked competition while someone else gets heatstroke.

I understand the frustration clubs feel when they are fighting for premiership points, and finals positions are on the line. There comes a time when we need to show a duty of care to our players, our families, our association and ourselves. Heat related illnesses do not only affect infants and the elderly, it can have a dramatic effect on the fittest of people. Without proper hydration the body will shutdown. We could call for extra drink breaks as suggested, but there is no guarantee the players and spectators are in fact consuming the required amount of fluid. Over my years in the game I have seen some people not drinking during drinks breaks, as you can’t force someone the hydrate, you can only advise them it’s in their best interests. The logical answer is to maintain our current heat policy. Some days you will have a forecast for a cool change to come through, but remember it is only a forecast, so there is no guarantees that they will be correct, the same as you can’t rely on the fact that it will reach 40 degrees. But it is safer to call off a day’s play then to risk ourselves, players and spectators.
The argument I am hearing is that some teams can record points on the first days play, due to a first inning win, whilst other teams receive a draw. Then the easiest solution would be if play is call off on the first week it becomes a one dayer on the second week. Or if it is called off on the second week after the first week has been played, then no matter the result of the first week, it is an across the section draw for all teams.
I leave this last thought with you, when deciding the outcome of this debate. Would you rather call off a day’s play, or call the family of a team mate, and tell their love one have passed away or has been rushed to hospital due to heat related stress/illness.

Any ideas how the Assoc. side will go this w/e against Churches?? Have heard they are quite confident from a mate who works with one of their players.

Thanks for that JWKDD. Heard you will not get a bowl today as the new skipper, in Hoppys absence, thinks you are very ordinary ;) . ASCA will win by 6 wickets.

Your Kidding if you think that ASCA is the third best comp. I think you would find that Para Dist would be the third best comp just by pure number of teams. I would be surprised if you guys get knocked off tomorrow by the Churches Mob

With the weather by the end of the week being in the forty's and one game left, if by chance that it is 40 on Saturday and we are called off, how does this affect your club in the race for a finals spot.
section 2 wise i would be pretty sure that Plympton and Sth Rd wouldn't be happy, Plympton looking to pinch top spot and Sth Rd looking for a spot in the 4, and both with outright chances.

I'd understand that it's part of the game, just like if it happened to rain and washed the day out...

Will be interesting to see what unfolds, or, we could use ICC's heat policy and wait until 1pm on Satuday, check if the breeze is coming from the South to South West, and if,and only if it is blowing at 15 -18 knots we play for 27 overs or 2 hours, which ever come first.

Easy really. ;)

i think there still filthy on last year's semi final which is understandable to a certain extent, but rules are rules and health of the players and umpires come before a game and who woulda won IMO. It's the same as rain, we cant change the weather and the rules are perfect IMO.

On this years Hewett Medal, do games such as the one wit Glenelg beating South road on day one count? do all games in a round that has its second day canceled get called off?? will plymptons draw with north haven have votes for it??
IMO i think Pritchard will give the medal a real crack but favourite IMO is Rusty. I think Sambo will be a suprise low scorer, with him not getting the votes in a lot of the games!

My tip is Adam Berry, he has made runs and taken wickets in the same game a few times. Brendan McCormack will give it a shake also.

would like to see the sarge win it! or hoppy back to back, but has lacked the dominant matches this year more then he has had before

Cheers Coverking. My thoughts are that Daniel Rowe will it. He has taken 32 wickets and has also made 3 or 4 good scores this year. If he doesnt i think it will be rusty!
