I disagree lads. You cant force people to be available for selection. And you cant suspend them for that when its community cricket. If it was district or state then maybe but not at our level.
Question for goatie....would you rather some kid or any player who is keen to have a red hot go or a pretty good player who is being forced to play?

And, i might add, i thought the assoc team was fairly balanced. If you look at the team that went away, add in Eddie, Lochel, Giggs, Baldo, Hutchy Marshall, Pistol and others that are keen but didnt go away then theres gonna be enuff natural competition for spots in the next weeks/months/years. Playing the young guys, who are probably gonna want to play assoc games for ten years, has increased the competition for places and for someone like BB or Lochel to come into the side they're gonna have to train atleast as much as the guys already in the side. They're gonna have to be motivated and train like mad to unplace these guys. All good for the future assoc sides. I think Goatie is coming up to a golden era or atleast a bronzed era.

I'd agree with that... Unless Gorski isn't fit to bowl, then I'd have

Hodson
Loechel
Smith
McDonald
Mills
Marshall
T Roling
Cossens
Balding
Nitschke
Gully

Jugs & Bored...

Out of curiosity, what are your selection requirements for these sides? Does form play any part? Lee Mills is a star no doubt about it but has had by his standards a slow start to the season.

Then you have both picked Cossens, so who is going to be the keeper? Mills or Cossens? Cossens obviously a proven performer but averaging less than Mills this season.

Gorski is in the side as well, as a batsman or a bowler? Because looking over his stats doesnt appear he has a) bowled much this season and b) taken many wickets, then you leave out the assoc captain and last carnivals all australian Shaun Holland who as was kidna pointed out by carey, this carnivals leading wicket taker.

So now you pick a bloke based on his personality?! :?

Holland in best XI for me any day of the week! At least you know he is going to give you everything he has whether good or bad and he isn't going to go down wondering like some others..

Auto to Kolcutta knightriders

And the word is the $800,000 salary is based more on marketability and his devilishly good looks than his all round cricket ability....but thats just the word on the street.
