smithy you are one of the finest batters going around mate. pidge well your pidge ;) dutchy not bad for an older young fella.
herds you do so much for this comp mate, I for one would just like to congratulate you on a perfect job mate, catch up soon for a beer bud. so to the rep side side good job lads, yeah even couger (old timer) ;)

Well said Smasha. GH deserves a lot of credit for the time and effort he put into getting the Association side together and I'd personally like to thank him for letting me enjoy one of the greatest cricketing experiences of my time. OB was clearly the Best Manager at the tournament and was greatly appreciated by the players and ol Tige after his 23rd Carnival (46 years!) I can only think of one other person (the Late and great Keith Duke of Payneham CC) who has served cricket in this state any better. Thanks to those guys and the sponsors as it is clearly a privilege to play at the Association Carnival.

Congratulations to Marc Cossens on his 6th and final carnival as representing your association for that period of time is truly an outstanding effort. To all the other guys I played with, it was truly an honour to play along side you blokes and wish you all well for the rest of the season.

Theres a national churches carnival every second year. This year was in Sydney so between xmas and new years theres 5 matches v each other comp. You get a winner and you can get all australian selection. prob one of the few advantages our comp has over others.

Nice pick up Auto.....had a brief and interesting conversation with one of their blokes during our match and he quoted 'I don't play Hard Wicket Cricket, and if we play on it, I'm not!'. Interesting I thought every Australian Churches Comp was on Hard Wicket :? And you telling me a guy with a recent First Class Record with Pakistan is playing Hard Wicket cricket in Melbourne? :? If he was in Adelaide he'd be playing 'A' grade district and at worst 'A' grade Turf Cricket.

Very, very interesting reading there, sweet pick up Auto.. ;) I know for a fact that Western Suburbs asked to field players from outside their Association before the Championships started, and the response from the other ACCA member teams was a resounding 'NO!".. :? It appears as though Gooky decided he'd get around the issue by creating a 20/20 comp where other Assoc's players can play under a 'permit' system, and technically they've 'played' under the Western Suburbs banner.. :? There was always something fishy between the 'we can't get a side and we'll get smashed' line that was trotted out 2mths prior, to the side they eventually put out on the park to win the Carnival. If I have anything to do with it, it won't be the last time this issue gets discussed at an ACCA Exec level, because if this is true (and it unequivocally IS!!), they have made a mockery of the National Championships and what they represent. They should be banished for bringing the ACCA, and their own Association into disrepute.

I tell ya what though, earlier in that thread someone spoke sarcastically about the 'Law family", but I can assure you that if Jack or Jeffrey Law had a major role to play in the running of WSCCA, these sneaky, underhanded tactics would never have been sanctioned, as they had respect for the ACCA and what it stands for. As opposed to this snivelling little tool.. If they want to drum up a random side, they can f**k off to Mildura each year for Willowfest!

hey goat man, not saying that they play dirty tactics, but atleast you and YOUR guys played hard and fair mate .
if they need to use outside help to win then so be it , let someone else follow through with the investigation into cheating.
we can all get other players from other comps , but what does that prove ? we choose from what we have and if thats not going to win then we lose , so what, try harder next time. if we get the players from churches to put their bloody hands up for the assoc games and stop whinging about ooohh I dont like him so I wont play if he plays. grow some lads and lets get the best team we can and kick some a$$ next time. talking about people like well cant mention names or I will get into trouble , but nek has a couple of talented people that cant be bothered playing (sorry lads) but has to be said.
my thoughts is we the churches league should start selecting teams early and then contact the teams captain and say the names that have been selected. if said person doesnt want to play then they dont play for their team that week. unless they have a reasonable reason. like I said only my thoughts , thats the way we used to do it , BACK IN THE DAY, HEY AUTO. ;)
WELL THESE THOUGHTS HAVE GIVEN ME A HEADACHE ,catch on the field lads. 8)
