Still can't believe that leggie and player of the tournament was a professional in Pakistan. Then again I only faced a couple of deliveries from him and had to cut a couple from leg stump such was his turn.

In closing, I'd like to thank a few people.

Firstly, I'd like to thank the players for making themselves available for the Carnival, especially those of you with kids. This time of year is a tough time to be away from your families, so we need to acknowledge the sacrifices that you've made to represent your State and your Association. You have done yourselves, your Clubs, your Association and your State proud. Hopefully the vast majority of you will be in Melbourne in 2012.

Special thanks goes out to the wives, girlfriends and parents who have supported the players' involvement. We know the last week has been tough on you guys and the kids without the boys being at home and your efforts have not gone without the full appreciation of everyone involved with our Team.

To Tige for scoring for us all week. We all know the sacrifices you have made to be there again this year, your 23rd National Championships. That's right, 23 Carnivals guys across 46 years.. That is an extraordinary voluntary contribution to cricket in anyone's language.

To my right-hand man OB, or the 'grave digger' as he is affectionately known as on here, thankyou for your tireless & extraordinary efforts during the week mate! When Tige says that your efforts as Manager are far more than he ever did during a Carnival, it sums up what you meant to this group of blokes this past week. Thanks mate!

To the Association & Executive Committee themselves for continuing to support our involvement in Carnival cricket, and to the fund-raising committee (Raf, Strokes, Tige, Scooter & Cuz) for their relentless efforts chasing & obtaining sponsorship to subsidise the player costs, a big THANK YOU!!!!!! Special thanks to those of you who dug deep into your own pockets to provide sponsorship funds to go towards this cause. In a difficult financial climate, your generosity cannot be thanked enough.

To Scooter & Smasha, who would've dearly loved to have been there themselves, you guys were there with us in spirit fellas and your efforts over the past 2yrs towards putting this side together have been significant and greatly appreciated!

To Cuz, congratulations on a magnificent representative career mate, which started back in Adelaide in 1998. 6 National Championships, SA captaincy and 2 All-Australian caps as a player is an amazing effort and your work behind the scenes in promoting rep cricket to the masses over the years is 2nd to none. Thanks for you efforts in getting the shirts & caps done up mate, it was a headache, but the end product was great due to your time & energy. Well played my good friend, you are a bloody legend son!

And last but not least, to all of you guys within the Association, players and administrators alike, thankyou for your support of our team in Sydney and what they achieved. Your messages of support were greatly appreciated during the week. Thank you all so much.

Well that's it from me! Please show your support for our junior side in 2011 as they play SAMCA matches against ATCA and ASCA in the upcoming months, as they are the future of our Association and will be the lynchpins when we head to Melbourne in 2012 to have another crack at breaking our Championship drought. Happy New Year guys and well done to the lads over in Sydney, but I must say it's pretty poor form Phantom coming over to another associations forum a bagging the **** out of a bloke. Not that I go to the Para Districts forum but I could just imagine the outcry if we did the samething over there, especially to a young fella.

I've sat here for a couple days now trying my hardest not to reply to this post, but really i think you are over exaggerating, in fact i wonder whether you ever read my posts, or just read Herders post back to me? Bagging the **** out of a bloke? Come on, i crossed the line with ONE SENTENCE, i gave Holland i decent bagging but no you didnt see that did you? Im sure you also don't see anything positive i might write, or as carey pointed out the fact i backed in Spry pre-carnival as a dark horse for AA cap, due to the potential he has, or when i posted he would be an asset in future carnivals etc?!

As for going on the PDCA forum, well go for it buddy, who are you going to pick on though? Im sure anyone playing grade 1 or 2 in PDCA are more than accomplished cricketers!

how many overs did he face?? how can u possibly make that call, regardless of what the deck was doing? PG, you have lost the plot....fair dinkum!!

matty has a long way to go in terms of addressing cricket in a mental capacity. no doubt he has talent, but the mindset needs some definite improvement. Having said that, full marks for committment and endeavour, but that thats not enough for a carnival.

Michael Spry - as much as it pains me, bowled pretty well to start then bowled the TRIPE we know he can in his last 2.. pack your bags, im backing you in for Sydney, done enough today i reckon!!

At the end of the day i personally seen this game as a warm up preparation for the side to Sydney, for a chance for the fringe players (Spry, Sandford) to step up and show something out make it hard for the Herder to overlook them.
And to me both Spry and Sandford did enough to warrant a ticket to Sydney in my opinion!

Perhaps GH should start looking towards next carnival, with blokes like Hollywood, Superbad, Pidgecrap, Wrighty, Gully all getting great experience this carny it forms a solid core group for the next one.

Hey Herder or should i say walrus

Good luck next week with the carnival, the boys have had the best possible lead up and i believe you have a great mix of young and experienced as well as a wonderfull fielding side! I not only look forward to seeing competitive (and hopefully successfull) results, but hearing personal achievements and growth as players from the side as blokes step up a knotch and push themselves that bit further! Perhaps this wont be the break through year for the champ win, but its a great stepping stone for plenty of the kids, and next champs in QLD should be the major and achievable goal!

Timmy Hodson still remains my fav for all aussie selection and im going to jump on Pidge as my dark horse - i think he is young and keen and commited enough to listen and learn and grow and try and keep trying all week long, and will have opportunities a plenty to take wickets and show his worth.

No doubt he has plenty to learn about himself and about playing at higher levels, he needs to realise that himself as well.
Im also not doubting he will be an asset in future carnivals, and im sure in 2yrs he will be a bit more ready to go again.
