Couldn't agree more. Possibly one of the best controlled innings I've seen in section 1. Even as an opposition player I was raving about it to our team as that's how you bat.

And after that, he helps carry in the matting as the rest play with a soccer ball... (I'm looking at you, JB).

Yeah I told him to leave the matting but he insisted to do it. Even in the nets he has this way of pacing his innings. Early you can bowl a ball that he leaves or blocks 5 minutes later that same ball disappears to the covers and he just dominates everyone it just shows how far hard work can go. Scary thing is if his brother had just as much work ethic he will be twice the player with bat and bowl he just needs to realise it.

Plympton vs ICC (Sect 1)

Plympton batted first and got off to a flyer being around 0/30 off 7. 3 Quick wickets fell to put ICC on top. Plympton battled hard through Hocking (60ish), Pritchard (40ish) and Naismith (50ish) to post a competative 10/247. Best of the bowlers were Buttfield and Sampson, whilst ICC's fielders looked disinterested at times. With the Sharks' batting depth and skill, should be a cracking 2nd week.

That will be a tough total to chase on Hackham oval. Sounds like the Plympton boys did well to bat the day out against a good attack. I heard Sampson hit Giersch in the head and bowled him the next ball. He has been bowling very quickly this season Sampson and i wouldn't be surprised if Giersch isn't the last guy that wears one from Sambo.

Yes it was a ripper bouncer, although i was under the pergola a hackham which is a mile way and it seemed to have hit the seam cos it rose quite sharply clipping on the back of ear/neck area of geirschy.
Although I must say without being 'big headed' geischy did smash one the biggest sixes off Sampsons other attempted bouncer. The Ball landed on some blokes nice commodore which was parked in front of the clubrooms.

Yep both a great nut by Sampson and a cracking 6 by Giersch. I enjoyed that battle, just wish it'd lasted a little longer. Really it was a cracking battle all day ball vs bat...at times both teams got on top and then as cricket does, the game evened up once again.

Does anyone know what kind of side your association is putting together to play the churches on Sunday?

The churches have almost a full strength side..

I think our side should be close to full strength but i think we may be a bowler short as we have been in the last few games. Hopefully some of the ones asked to play make themselves available this weekend.

The policy as I understand it is on the Saturday morning @ 9am - whatever the ABC forecast the temperature at then decides if you play or not.

Last year the policy changed from 42 down to 40. So my understanding is (please jump in anyone if this is wrong) - if the forecast @ 9am is 40 degrees or more - the day is cancelled.

If Saturday is cancelled and everyone receives a draw - it certainly makes it interesting for a few teams who fancy themselves after a good first week who need a win.

So does say Glenelg consider themselves lucky they already get first innings points while the rest of section 1 (bar Coro) only gets 3 points for the draw? Or unlucky that they're in a reasonable position to get an outright and now might not get that chance?

Bloody interesting season this one...

Very interesting season RB i agree. We will feel as though sharing the points with Nth Haven isn't what would happen if we had played on saturday. For glenelg, well things are falling into place for them nicely it is only half a game that they gain on the field but it will make their task of making the finals that bit easier. Plympton and Sheidow will consider themselves unlucky as they have both posted very competitive targets for the sharks and ramblers to chase and the keswick v westminster is in the balance so neither side IMO could say they were a certainty to win that one. Mitchell Pk and South Rd well roadies probably are in the stronger position here and the points could be vital to decide who will indeed finish bottom.

I'd like to think my name would be up there - only issues are my lack of talent, ability and my poor record. Apart from that - definitely a shoe-in. ;)

Bloods' side is pretty well picked and balanced. As biased as I am and from what I've seen - Smith might be considered pretty unlucky to miss the side. Having said that - I'm not keen to say who'd have to miss out as its extremely close.
