Ash's (aka Cougar) 23 in quick time kept the momentum going. Here he is nailing a drive to the extra cover fence. 8)

Smithy acknowledges his teammates' applause after a great knock of 85. After the rain on Day One, the juice (perspiration) was really flowing on Day Three when the sun came out. Energy sapping stuff..

When it was our turn to bowl, we took regular wickets early on to snuff out any chance of NSW B chasing down our total, despite some late resistance from their tail. Wrighty, the drummer of the band, with 4/38. 8)

Day Four saw us line up against NSW A, who had dropped their first 3 maches. As a result, they 'recruited' some players from their comp that weren't named in their initial squad, obviously to save some face.. :?

This was the first day that Raby Oval #1 - home to NSW grade cricket club Campbelltown-Camden - was used after the heavy rain on 26/12 & 27/12. The pitch was a road and the outfield like carpet. 8) Unfortunately, we dropped their skipper 3 times (once on 1) and he went on to post 115, en route to his side posting a solid 222 from their allotted 50 overs. 'Catches win matches' isn't just a cliche`..

Check out the oval. 8)

One Ball Bandit beat the bat more times than Dutchy spotted fat chicks on the walking track during the tournament (big call, yes I know.. ;) ), and finally craccked it for his first 5-for in his 3rd National Championships. 5/67 was his final figures by memory.

Geez, how good was it to sleep in your own bed last night and not have to get up early (or out of a Suzuki Swift.. =)) ) ..?!? \:D/ 8) Borgasm worthy.. ;)

When it came our turn to bat, Superbad and Hoddo started solidly against some accurate bowling, but when Hoddo decided to go downtown against Goatboy (will explain later..) and was caught by their skipper running back at mid on at full stretch to pluck the outfield catch of the week, our run-chase started to falter...

Here's Hoddo cracking a cut early on.

After the first 3 days, Smithy was 79 runs ahead of his closest batting aggregate rival, so it was a massive blow to our chances in this match to lose him for a first ball LBW - hit on the full, plum in front. To make matters worse, Cougar couldn't play due to a gout-like reaction in his foot, which required a trip to the hospital and doses of anti-inflammatories. :(

With 220 on the board and our 4 in-form batsmen watching from the hill, the front-running NSW prats started sledging our lads pretty hard. Cuz stepped up into the #4 spot, and loving a contest, he straight away started giving it back to the big-mouthed SOB's.. It was vintage Cossens, as he cut, drove and pulled his way to a lone-hand 71, despite frequent wickets falling at the other end. Eventually he was the last man dismissed with the score on about 150.
