Anyway thats the way i have always captained sides whether it be right or wrong.

you would think if you make finals that there would be a few other lads around the club putting their hands up to do all the setting up for you.

Para Teachers 78.14
Smithfield 52.45

Round 14
Salisbury North vs Playford
Salisbury West vs North Pines
Para Teachers vs Smithfield
Central United vs Virginia

Salisbury North 4/74 vs Playford dnb
Para Teachers 137 vs Smithfield 4/28
North Pines 124 vs Salisbury West 2/64
Virginia 8/212 vs Central United dnb

North Pines are in a predicament atm, they can try and set up a reverse outright if Westies get over the line to snare a home final, it could cost them a spot in the 4 if it backfires though. The other 3 matches hold little significance unless Para Teachers can get an outright vs Smithfield.

Imho home finals are not worth the risk of not playing finals entirely. Much prefer away finals where you can rock up knowing what you need to do, no setting up, packing down anything like that.

Then there's the heat policy that has killed a few sides in recent finals. I must say, I've always preferred to get to the ground early with the boys, set up and then stoke the bbq for a pre-match feed and laugh.

not sure we will have heat policy issues this year LM

Stranger things have happened, I recall a couple of years ago being rained out one week and heated out the next. may of been this season too.

if it rains i know we will keep playing, it poured on saturday at sandy the umpires comment was "The bowlers have spikes they wont slip" not taking into account the state of the ball, the light and the deterioration of the pitch. i couldnt believe we played the full 75 overs, rattas asked to come off at one stage and the umpire said no and he got out two balls later, dont think he was too happy bout it

yeah mate came up well, didnt think much of it on thursday night but the work that our curator did along with trent kelly over the next two days saw it come up a treat, played really well, a bit slow but thats to be expected and the ball darted sideways a couple of times. Angaston made mention that they thought it was one of the better pitches they had played on, not sure they will be thinking the same thing this saturday after the weather we have had this week and the state of the pitch at 7pm saturday night

Elizabeth East 227 vs Wasleys 27
One Tree Hill 3/114 (14 overs remaining) vs Angle Vale dnb (50/50)
Smithfield 7/171 (9 overs remaining) vs Central United dnb (50/50)
Brahma Lodge 3/221 (7 overs remaining) vs Craigmore dnb (BL 80/20)

A very interesting Saturday coming up, I'd be leaning towards Brahma Lodge, Angle Vale & Central United to get up.

No way LM, You are going easy on your boys I think - favourites now with runs on the board and overs left - Plenty of pressure on Central United to chase down something around 200 in a virtual final.

I wish, it's probably the only way I'm going to get another game this season, we have 3 players to come back in to either A's or B's for the finals. Central United have a strong batting line-up and we'll have to be on our game.

True, we have a fairly strong line up but it relies on the same couple of people to feature each week. Chasing a score has never really been a strength out at United - I can recall multiple collapses at Mofflin. End of the day we are possibly going to be chasing around 200ish off 61 overs - put it in perspective we need around 3.3 runs an over. If this is kept in perspective then it will be a great chase. I can guarantee you one thing though - it's going to be a great days cricket, get down there grab a beer and a snag and enjoy what should be a good game of cricket with plenty on the line.

It's a pity the official umpire didn't show up, too much pressure on teams to umpire themselves, how were our guys?

Pretty good, 1 or 2 close LBW's but all in all the game is being played in the right spirit. Had a little disagreement when it came to vacating the field when the rain came, but other than that everyones playing hard and fair.

Someone did say that the skipper was in no rush to finish up early.

At least the rain won't be an issue this week, the ground was nice and quick, hopefully we can take a few quick wickets and head out to bat with a bit of confidence. Will definately be an interesting day.

Good Luck to the following junior teams playing in Grand Finals this week.
Under 11 Friday night: Salisbury Juniors vs Craigmore (Ridley Reserve)
Under 11 Saturday: Sandy Creek Green vs Salisbury North (Williamstown Oval)
Under 13 South: Salisbury Juniors vs Pooraka (Ridley Reserve)
Under 13 Central: Eastern Park vs Salisbury Juniors (Dwight Reserve)
Under 13 North: Two Wells vs Eastern Park (Two Wells Oval)
Under 15 South: Salisbury West vs North Pines (Salisbury West Oval)
Under 15 North: Craigmore vs Smithfield (Uley Reserve)
Under 16: Smithfield vs Craigmore (Smithfield Oval)

Bad luck to the Angle Vale CC, they lost 3 semi finals in the juniors on the weekend, I have met a few of their junior coaches over the past couple of seasons and they are all a credit to their club in their conduct as coaches and sportsmanship.

Salisbury Juniors and Craigmore each with 3 grades in Grand Finals.... followed by E Park and Smithfield with 2. I wonder how many junior teams each club has, and if these clubs will be powerhouses in the PDCA in the next 5 years? Young skywalker is looking to play cricket next year too.

All of the clubs you mentioned have good consistent junior set-ups, add Angle Vale & Salisbury West to that list and young Skywalker would be able to play cricket at any of these clubs for his whole junior career as they generally have all grades covered and are consistent finals participants.

I thought you were going to call, we'll sneak one in early next season then, I didn't account for us to have 2 junior teams in the GF.
I think both clubs will need to focus on the proper season anyway leading into the finals.
