Association Match vs ATCA

There is no Best Overall Performance award for each grade for the season :? eg Bradman Medal for Grade cricket etc etc

So was it over in 10 minutes. Walk in and your shields are on the table to pick up and go. I hope there is some new blood on the committee next season who look after the players.
I take my hat off to some like Jeff Clarke, around 42 wickets in a season in Div 1 and not a cracker. Guess he got a premiership!

Yeah you do get a trophy. In past years when i have got my best looking player trophy, you generally go in, have a chat about how good looking you are, sign some autographs and then get your trophy. Sometimes people want photos, thats only natural, but yeah winners come away with a trophy.

for my first ever assoc presso night......should have stayed home .
what a joke , about 20 people. one from NEK ;) NO ONE FROM VISTA.....
five from rose park, and a few from lutheran.....congrats to all winners.
THINK WE SHOULD MAKE IT THAT EVERY TEAM HAS TO BUY 5 TICKETS MIN FOR PRESSO NIGHT
AND HAVE SOMEWHERE A BIT MORE FORMAL ?????
MAKE IT A NIGHT FOR TEAMS AND FAMILY.....THINK IT WOULD WORK AND COULD INJECT A BIT MORE LIFE INTO THE COMP...

Dont know where you were smasha, i was at the Grange Golf Club as per instructions on the web page. Thought it was a nice place and good turn out.

I kinda like the idea of a bit more formal dinner/awards night but doubt this comp (exec, clubs & players) could ever make it work.

Fully agree mate! For the record, there were 2ppl from PV last year - yours truly and the Div 3 batting trophy winner. Unfortunately I was doing my hair last night. Sick of Auto dominating the best looking player award, so I'm going to mount a serious challenge next year. I've already engaged a 10 person team of gun PhotoShop experts on the case as we speak.. ;)

In years gone by (before the days of 20ppl per Prezzo Night) we used to have a larger event at Stonyfell Winery. Geez they were good (big) nights! :D Guest speakers, the lot. Former SA 'Sheild player, 1987 Cricket World Cup Squad member Andrew Zesers, and former Adelaide 36er & Nth Melb Giants guard Darryl Pearce, were 2 memorable guest speakers from those events.

Fully agree re. purchased tickets in advance. Clubs with more than 1 team should be made to purchase 10 minimum and fill a table. It's about time the Assoc tried something different because the current format is informal and a waste of time. And it looks like a good number of ppl want to make it into a decent end of season event. We should be recognising and congratulating our premiership & trophy winners adequately, and now that PV are no longer Div 1 premiers, more ppl might want to show up & celebrate the achievement... :P

I agree mate,
dont give people the choice . make them turn up or at least pre purchase tickets so if they dont go tickets are still paid for.
each club president has to buy these tickets by half way through the season......should work...
if you dont buy then your club cops a fine....just an idea to liven up our comp ?
bugger the exec , if they dont want to do it then we as players organise it ourselves ....thoughts ?

Don't know if it'd be wise to organize a rebel Prezzo night.. ;)

I think the best thing to do is table your proposal to the incoming Assoc President. I'm sure he will be all ears and willing to give the different format proposal a go. Especially if it's supported by several ppl (hint, hint guys! ;) ). The current format is ordinary, so anything different would be an improvement.

Due in part to broad representation across many Clubs in our Senior and U21 rep sides, a lot of the guys in the top few Divisions get on pretty well, so IMO there's no real excuse for not making this proposed format work. Pre-purchased tickets are a must however.

I think between interested parties, we should be able to secure a quality guest speaker as well for the event. 8)

Well with Hutchy Churches out of action I took it upon myself to be chief investigator at the Churches dinner last night. This is what I heard

- Paralowie CC in deep trouble
- Andrew ‘Rooster’ Price to set up an umpires clinic after being voted the best game wrecker last night
- Shaun Holland to play Div 1 cricket next season. But with who?
- Aaron Rolling to stay at Fitzroy
- Geoff Riddle is Darth Vadar and Matt Sanford is his Luke Skywalker????
- Seaton and Enfield to play their best X1 in their A grade next season
- NEK and Fitzroy to pick up a few players to challenge Rose Park for the title
- Tyson Rolling to bring his new fiancé over to Adelaide and her twin sister. Keep an eye on that one fellas 
- Andrew ‘Smasha’ Balding, Ash ‘Cougar’ MacDonald and Ian ‘The other guy’ Henderson in a push for an over 50s comp. So they can keep away from their wife and kids for longer and tell each other how good they were 20 years ago.
- Peter Taylor elected new CEO of the Churches
- Mark Weinert reinstated as Coach of the Carnival side with Peter O’Brien his deputy
- Matt Sanford, Adam Trainos, Adam Harris to play Turf cricket next season
- Jeremy Borgas to join his cousins at Grade Level
- Matt Begegood to join Rose Park chasing a flag
I wish I was as good a cricketer as what Phantom tells me he is

The lure of another carnival may be enough to get Uncle back across but I doubt it.

Nice work Pie Men! 8)

I'd like to nominate for the over 50's draft too, just so long as I can sneak into Division 2 when PV play Enfield.. ;)

My missus still thinks I play electric light cricket on a Wednesday night, and it's been defunct for about 5yrs now..
