Steve won his first toss of the season in the Grand Final which is always an incredible advantage, he was also only selected to open the batting 30 mins from the start of play and it proved to be the match winning move. I know a lot has been said on here about the size of our ground, but with the rain we've had over the past 2 weeks, 247 was a score 99% of sides would be confident of defending. Particularly when no side had made over 200 against us all season and the best bowler in the comp Jeff Clarke on our side. Still PV have some quality bats, but when Smith went early and Hodson who was looking dangerous was dismissed, any nerves I had left me. Must say I was baffled it was left to Cuz or Rich Marshall to hand us the shield, as no one from the committee was present Cheers for the PV lads who stuck around for a chat and a beer, and fair effort from you blokes to give yourselves a chance to win 5 flags in a row. Was a good night for us, and thought the Riddler and Hendo were our best off the ground too, as they were part of the final 4 that ran into the Woolshed crew of Cuz, Marshall, Harry and Pidge
A lot of banter gets thrown around on here (believe it or not..

), but the size of the oval is fine.

I remember watching a game there last year (by memory) when Tarcs made 70-odd and he top edged one for six that landed about where the cones were
this time.

The ground was a fraction quicker in week one, but that was due to the rain proceeding play during week 2, and the sun drying the ground out post-tea in week 1. But certainly not the difference in the match. Runs on the board in a Final are gold, and you guys proved why you finished minor premier.
I did mention to the NEK boys in attendance that I should say a few congratulatory words to the RP lads on behalf of C&CCA, but the irony of that eventuating was far too great..
Also want to congratulate Rooster & George too for jobs well done, and praise both Clubs for the manner & spirit in which the match was played. Hard, but fair, and with mutual respect. The way cricket
should be played.
