Question. Are you guys focussing more on reaching finals or avoiding relegation?
I know talking to a few United lads, it seemed their main priority was to avoid relegation, given the tightness of the ladder I think thats almost a negative frame of mind.

Much of a muchness really, you just have to go into each game wanting to win more than the opposition, our aim is to make the finals, we know we need to cause an upset to do so and beat the teams that we're fighting against for the last spot in the 4.
We've scored over 200 the last 3 times that we've played Angle Vale so we'll go in with a positive frame of mind again.

A very interesting round this week in grade 2.
It will be an opportunity some the winners to put a greater gap between themselves and the team below them or a chance for the lower placed side to catch up and put more pressure on the higher ranked side. 1v2, 3v4, 5v6 & 7v8.
With both Atco and Riverside losing on the weekend it has given Westies a big sniff for finals action.

we at united need to learn to take the oppotunity to win when its presented , too many times this season we have been in good positions to win and we havnt , we dont think its negative to want to avoid relegation, its where we are at... talking finals would be getting a little bit ahead of ourselves id think.. a little different sitting 2nd to 7th

Unfortunately this is going to be the cruellest season in Grade 1 for quite some time, Smithfield, One Tree Hill or Central United will be relegated despite being competitive throughout the season.
You guys have done everything right over the past few years, I remember chatting to you after the 09/10 semi final and you said "We needed to stay down in Grade 2 for now, we just aren't ready for it".
You've gone away, worked on pretty much the same group and came up when you are ready for it, it would be a shame if you were to get relegated straight away as you don't deserve it.
We on the other hand went up and lost Bluey McMillan and then Aaron Bateson for most of last season, they were 2 big losses for us as they had outstanding seasons the previous year.
Losing Alex Tuckwell this season put us on the backfoot as we put quite a bit of time into him and him and Shane formed an excellent opening partnership.
Gaining Scotty Keylock has been handy but Bateson hasn't hit the heights that we know he can produce, we've stuck by mediocre performances trying to give players more Grade 1 experience and it hasn't paid off. Now we have to blood some youth and hope we can do enough to stay up and continue to re-build.
One of our biggest problems has been focussing on what could've been, the list of prospective players that indicated that they will suit up for us compared to the ones that actually do is dis-heartening, even still, I've heard in the past month 4 players that want to come across next season that would be automatically in our A grade squad, now it's a wait and see process to see what pans out.

GRADE 4 PREMIERSHIP TABLE
Eastern Park 116.24
Elizabeth East 113.06
Two Wells 106.47
Para Teachers 96.86

Salisbury West 74.97
ATCO 45.27
Craigmore 39.79
Wasleys 26.06

Round 11
Salisbury West vs Elizabeth East
Two Wells vs Craigmore
ATCO vs Eastern Park
Para Teachers vs Wasleys

Another week of top 4 playing bottom 4 to widen the gap, the rest of the season will be a formality. Although the minor rounds have been disappointing in this grade, at least the finals will be closely contested.

GRADE 5 PREMIERSHIP TABLE
Central United 106.30
Angle Vale 86.53*
Rose & Crown 77.26
Riverside 65.68*

Smithfield 62.33
North Pines 56.59
Eastern Park 52.36
ATCO 29.33

*Denotes that ATCO and Riverside have played one less game, they will both gain extra points at the end of the minor round, ATCO (9.6) & Riverside (7.3) at this stage.

Round 11
Riverside vs Rose & Crown
Angle Vale vs ATCO
Central United vs North Pines
Smithfield vs Eastern Park

Top two appear safe now and you would think that Rosies will need to win one more match although they have the toughest run home out of other finals hopefuls. North Pines and Smithfield both have to play ATCO yet in two-dayers which could influence the make-up of the finals.
