Gepps all out 143
SHOC 8/115

A few interesting decisions that have favoured the bowling sides have left a very intriguing game for next week.

I have been looking forward to this weekend for at least a month now, if i could have found a advent calendar that counts down to this weekend i would have been eagerly eating the chocolates each morning, and having progressively sleepless nights!

And what a great weekend it proved to be, filled with anxiety, suspense, with a great finish.

I bussed my way into the city, eagerly anticipating the days event. When I was waiting for 1 o'clock to tick over I was weirdly nervous, think this just shows the enormity of the occasion.

Not having been there, to see him mature, it was great when it got of to a great start, a good manly hug. I hadn't seen Henrique in 6 years. Now he is 15 and a real young man, flew over from Majorca by himself, with a hint of facial hair and a new found interest in the ladies.

It was fantastic for him to make the trip out here to see his father, before now I had always had to fly back to Majorca. And whenever I landed back in Palma, memories came flooding back of that night of misplaced passion 15 years ago, too much sangria, too much sun, and the lack of a prophylactic.

I don't regret bringing Henrique into the world, his mother, Laurita reports he is quite the vollyball player in their home town of valldemossa.

But I regret that I will have to spend less time on the forum over the next two weeks or so due to the parenting responsibilities that have been forced upon me.

They have struggled since losing their influential skipper in Heargraves. I still don't know why he left.
There once was a bloke named Fracka,
Scored runs since he was a young tacka,
But alas not anymore,
his shot selection's been poor,
and now they call him QUACKA!!

I'm sure they will benefit from a bloke who bats at 7 averaging less than 10 and takes 1 wicket a game.

I would be unhappy to if I was him everyone wants to contribute as much as they can, In fact I'm unhappy with my batting position too, but in reality there is no one above me that doesnt deserve to be there. He will get over it like I have, we realise that we have to make sacrifices in order to try and win a premiership. Nothing wrong with showing a bit of disappointment. Just have to see how he goes as the season progresses. Still a happy family :)

One round later and this player has spat the dummy, refusing to train and playing in the two's!! Sounds like a very happy family!!

I am asking for some advise from the older parents on the forum, since being accepted into the warm bosom of the turf cricket community I feel I can ask this sensitive question.

Henrique left his smart phone on the table when he "had to drop the kids off at the pool", (don't know what that means) this afternoon, and being the farther that I am, I decided to have a quick look at what was on the ample sized screen.

It seems to me that he is getting quite close to people of the opposite sex, both back in Majorca and here already in Adelaide, he is a good looking rooster after all, (#chipofftheoldblock).

I'm assuming that his mother can't have the "father son chat" she doesn't have the correct equipment to facilitate such events.

So is the ripe age of 15 too early to have this chat, and when, if it is the right age, can I bring it up? Is it a morning thing? Post breakfast? When the adolescent mind is at its most open to new information?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey Mickey,
Are you talking about Goodwood??

Come on Merki you can do better than that.
Have a look at the stats and you will see that his returns have been greater than what you are loosely suggesting.
If you are going to be critical of one why the man love for Matt Hargreaves?
The batting averages are pretty close and Shane can actually bowl.

Not really man love for Hargreaves. If you remember I actually said I don't rate him. I'm more interested as to why a premiership captain would be dropped the following year and then leave the club.

I'm sure Shane is quite handy at ten pin bowling, but he is average with the small red ball!! Take Sibbick and Tume out of that side, and they will struggle, massively!!

On Gepps Cross, an outright loss first round and narrowly avoiding an outright loss the second round, it seems my prediction of them dropping to A4 is spot on the money!!

And My old club Ingle Farm. What is going on out there?? They cant beat a side that was almost beaten outright in a day the previous round!!Look what happens when all the old boys step aside and make way for the young ones. Very disappointing to see.

No idea Merki......

Walkerville smashing Brahma Lodge
Gepps got the upper hand on SHOC
Farmers going OK against FUCC....BTW Para Hills did play in A2 GF last year
and finally........ FRACKA on fire!!!!!

Pembroke just went home after our game not one of them even bothered to come up for a beer. Also when playing at Park 9, PAOC had beers for themselves but that was it, and we felt rude obviously bringing our own so that was dissapointing. Can't expect much these days.

Yeah we did for the first time on the weekend..

One of the guys lost his mother and it was the first time we were all together as a team to have a beer with/for him.. Im sure the Boys from Woody Rech understood the private nature of the moment and they would have seen the armbands that were all wearing during this game.. But we still went into the bar to have a couple of drinks each after we had one with our team mate...

What game were you talking about mate???

Due to a heavy business workload (both home and abroad), I find it incredibly difficult to have 'friends' for weekend social occasions, dinners etc. So you could imagine how tough it would be for me to ask for advice on a personal matter.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the human interaction I have obtained through this forum, so I felt safe enough to ask for advice.

In today's day and age Merki, it is not only irresponsible, but dangerous to ignore ones call for help let alone have a dip at someones call for help. Through the corporate world I have unfortunately witnessed more than once the tragic consequences of such actions. I find your response to my genuine call for help to be childish and very narrow minded. I have received an overwhelming amount of support via the private message function, not just from the turf thread, but also from some of the other lesser standard cricket threads.

I know I get a warm feeling when I log on to this forum and I can see a new post, whatever the content. And I think a safe haven like this should be protected from poisonous people like yourself with only negativity to spread.

New awards for the LOA and LOB Division good news if you ask me. The format has gotten more popular through the years and the main emphasis for a growing minority of clubs. Good to see.
