Ball hit the batsman's glove and handle, popped up in the air and was caught low down by the wicketkeeper who moved forward. Umpire "didn't see anything". Disgraceful. The game then degenerated into non strikers trying to intimidate guys, threatening to walk off the field. The particular incident Froffies is talking about was one guy appealing out of frustration to then have the umpire making up rules to say it's not out. Had he said, as he should, that it's out if the appeal is upheld, no doubt it would have been withdrawn.
To clarify
1. Out Handled the ball
(a) Either batsman is out Handled the ball if he wilfully touches the ball while in play with a hand or hands not holding the bat unless he does so with the consent of a fielder.
In the more important battle, F. McVeigh was dismissed by Grahaml.
If he knew it wasn't out why would a grown man carry on like an absolute f***wit... What rule did I make up?
Time to read that again, Froffies. It WAS out. Which is what made him carry on. The rules you made up were that (a) non strikers can't be out handled ball and (b) it can't be out if the batsman is in his crease. Since neither are in fact rules you must have simply made them up, couldn't have read them anywhere. That's what the guy was upset about, while the umpire was acting like an absolute f***wit making up rules to suit himself. In the final wash up, you were wrong and the umpire before you made an absolutely woeful decision.
As I said, worst I've seen. Beats the stumping "his foot was on the line" "on the line is out" "then his foot was behind the line" incident at Williamstown a few years ago. LBWs are always harder to judge unless you're in the umpire's position, edges behind you can say it flicked something else and a feather behind can be easily made to be a case of didn't hear anything. But to have a massive deflection with nothing else anywhere near the ball given not out "didn't hit anything" makes you rethink why we bother playing. Funny how your guys kept going on about us being dirty cheats afterwards though, in light of one guy walking on a caught behind and an LBW given.
The funny thing about the whole day was nobody from Central United had any idea of what they needed to do. Losing first innings put you 27 points behind us, losing outright to us makes zero difference to you compared to losing first innings. However, you are now 5th and .19 behind Craigmore, with Angle Vale less than an innings behind in 6th. Bat more aggressively and get 80 in front with 8 overs left, you might pick up a few wickets and an extra point. Might make all the difference.
