Are you being serious or what? Looked good enough Sunday! Who knows what could happen, i don't think your really ever ready but the experience would do him a world of good.

No suprise inclusion for me, i would've told him to pack his bags already and get keen.

how many overs did he face?? how can u possibly make that call, regardless of what the deck was doing? PG, you have lost the plot....fair dinkum!!

matty has a long way to go in terms of addressing cricket in a mental capacity. no doubt he has talent, but the mindset needs some definite improvement. Having said that, full marks for committment and endeavour, but that thats not enough for a carnival. he needs to mature as a cricketer, and i stand by the fact that i dont think hes ready for that level of cricket............or the antics of the crew on new years eve !!!

Also, from Div 4 to Div 1 and 100 or so runs this season.

Mind you, if matty doesnt go in 2013, i would definately be suprised, and somewhat dissapointed.

Go back 6yrs...

Phillip Hicks 20 - Div 1
Paul Wright 19 - Div 2
Myself 19 - Div 2
Chris Izzo 19 - Div 2
Sean Phillips 18 - Div 3
Terry Potts 18 - Div 2
Matt & Mick Feltus 17 - Div 2

All pretty young and green, all went alright. All playing below Div 1 except Hicks, and im sure most werent setting the world alight before the carnival. Worst case scenario he gains some valuable experience from this and comes back a better cricketer. May have not faced many overs on the weekend but compared to half the other blokes at least looked like he was trying his hardest.

Either way i dont pick the side and who knows if he is even in.. hurry up herder..

I think the gap between PV and the rest looks to be narrowing, and i think the gap between NEK and the rest is smaller still.
Open race, liking the way Fitzroy are coming along, look to have more vareity/depth in their line up than NEK, and i think with a few going away to Sydney (hopefully) they will come back better cricketers and turn it on in the 2nd half.

I think Timmy Hodson is the stand out player in the comp so far this year, barely ahead of Balding. Both are capable of taking a game away from you in the blink of an eye but its a scary thought for sides if Hodson is opening the batting and tearing you open from the start, then you have to try and recover and he has set the foundation for the rest of the side.

Rose Park look to be improving and would almost have them on even par with AL. Ross Smith look miles out of their depth, but hopefully can be competitive after the break.

I think Spry is the big improver this year, after a good break out year he went quite last year and seemed to struggle but this year looks to have rediscovered that magic - might be due to his "special" (didnt say retarted trippsta) running style

Jon Smith i think wants to be the guy who gets the most runs in div 1 AND the most ducks

how did i miss that

oh and how much do i owe ya for that write up PG??!

as much as id love to agree, id have to say Baldo should be there instead of me. Someone who is capable of ripping through a batting side and then coming in and scoring 100's off 20 balls would scare sides more.

as for a review, I'm only going by what i have seen having only played Adelaide, Fitzroy and Rose Park (not including the T20's they dont really count)

Bowling, I'd have to say I have been impressed by Pidge and Harry, especially how they bowled to me in the first match. Watching Nitter rip thorugh us in the second week against them was impressive, as painful as it was to watch and how much swing Clarkey got last weekend. He was starting it outside my leg stump and ending up heading towards 1st slip! Rich has been bowling pretty well for us, taking wickets in pretty much every match and one of my mates, Sarge is starting to enjoy his bowling and picking up regular wickets which im very happy to see.

Batting, JS carrying the bat against fitzroy was awesome, just need him to forget about getting the record for the most ducks in a season! Loechel has looked good (as much as i hate to say it) and is well ahead in the runs already. Auto and Superbad also made things look very easy in their second dig against us. Someone who has actually suprised me was PT, since when does he have agressive shots?!?!

now someone else post away... give me something interesting to read in the morning

Well, the 13 players for Sydney have been selected. Special thanks to Scooter for popping out tonight and handing out the caps & shirts to the chosen players. 7 Carnivals & 3 All-Aust caps, the guy is a true legend of C&CCA and a great mate of mine. Thanks Scoots. 8)

Shaun Holland (C) - Paralowie
Jon Smith (V/C) - Para Vista
Jeremy Borgas - Adelaide Lutheran
Marc Cossens - Para Vista
Daniel Frick - Para Vista
Adam Gully - Enfield United
Timothy Hodson - Para Vista
Ashley MacDonald - Rose Park
Tyson Roling - Fitzroy
Matthew Sandford - Fitzroy
Michael Spry - Fitzroy
Brett Tarca - Para Vista
Paul Wright - Central Mission

Congratulations to the 13 guys selected to represent our Association and State. A good blend of youth and experience there and it's up to the senior players to lead by example and show the young fella's the way. ;)

Unfortunately Smasha had to rule himself out at the 11th hour. We wish him well and if the young guys can tap into his passion and take that away with them, they'll do well.

@ BB - Hear what you're saying mate, and in an ideal world, it would've been great to ease The Superbad into the 2012 Carnival with more SAMCA stuff over the next few years, but the overall experience will be invaluable for him in the long-term. He will get his chance to shine during the week, and as a coach, I have an obligation to do what's best for his cricket in the long-term. Regardless of what he does during the week with the bat, this week of cricket will be worth 2 seasons of club cricket to him. And that's a great thing. 8)

I like it, i think its pretty accurate to the side i guessed except obviously no Smasha :( Batting looks strong and the younger side hopefully should equate to greater enthusiasm in the field. Will be interesting to see how the side gels together considering their are some really young guys, some really old guys (cuz, holland  ) and some really egotistical guys.

Im backing this side in to be more successfull than last carnival..

I'm looking forward to seeing Hoddo and Wrighty stationed at cover & mid wicket. A couple of panthers with great arms, and Harry & Tarcs fairly handy in the field too, just quietly. ;) Batting is strong indeed. Bowling will need to be disciplined and catches taken when they come. My big tip for the Carnival - Pidge to come back a REAL MAN - on and off the field.. ;)
