They weren't bad, just a few more young guys than they would have usually played.

McLaren 7 / 148 on the sand trap that is the Vale oval. Compass all out 101. With ins to come including Burgess, Num and Braidwood, they will trouble some sides as the year goes on.

Word is Num is heading OS, so will play for the Maroon's until then, Braidwood in and out, so may play for them also. A couple more that will play that weren't available on the weekend.

Think u will find that they will be made to play in there top side ,the exect comm. has said they have to name six guys who must play in there top side every week and if bridwood, num, binns and brown 4 guys out of there prem side from last year play in there second side there kidding ,yes we have said name six guys in top side but this does not mean 4 of there best players can drop back ,think we will be having a meetting about this very soon.

well what a start to season 09 aldinga beating last years chokers willunga in a great excibition of cricket also with port elliot having beating more or less a weak goolwa side with some great batting from the ever reliable H Robertson and T Clarke backed up with the ball also.....k vincent was in typical form highlight of the match would either be L Bailey being clean bowled around his legs or his stunning catch in gully to remove Gav Smith which was simply amazing..good to see other sides like mclaren districts beating last years b grade winners quiet easily with some great bowling from the "most dynamic" B.Wilson with figures of 5 for 14 off 8.....i think season 09 is going to be a lot closer than previous years and should be interesting to see whos form carrys on to the next week

Bloods you have to be kidding H Robertson reliable ,this kid is the worst cricketer i have seen from what i heard he bowled 8 overs of total crap out of 48 balls 35 where that far down leg side the batsmen could not even hit them, at one stage spurls asked the umpire if they should be called wides ,yes he got 3 wickets but i think they where the only balls they could hit,as for his batting should of been out first ball, then the next ball trys to smash ball out of park and misses,52 maybe but even the sun shines out of a dogs arse some days bah hahaha ,whats the bet he will not make 200 runs for the year.

Why cause you dont like who they've named? You asked them to name 6, they did, get over it.

That's exactly right... Its a stupid rule but they shouldn't have 2 sides in A grade anyways. Who is on the exect committee and how did these ppl get to be on the committee? do club delegates nominate? or what is the criteria?

This was not voted on by the Exect comm ,it was voted on by all delegats at the last AGM,nothing to do with Exect comm, the Exect comm wanted Myponga to stay in A grade ,but this did not happen so compass are only playing two sides to stop bye in A grade, and i know what you all will say whats wrong with bye in A grade well think about it,how would u like to only play 3 games after Xmas then have last game of year a bye just before finals, hate to see u all complain about that if it happened to you,and this is what would of happened.

well said rocky!! it is pretty hard to gain momentum heading into finals if you have a bye near the end of the season! There should always be an even number in the A grade comp 6,8,10 or 12.

:(( :((
I was told Compass dont have to confirm there sides until the 6th week of the season, so players can play for either team until then. True or False RockyB?? Being on the committee & having a go you should know this....

In all honesty, who cares if there's only a couple games between chrissy and finals because of a bye. If you worry about 'not having a decent hit out before finals' then you'll never be a successful sportsmen. Playing footy at Willunga, sometimes we'll only play the one game in 4 weeks, and come up against a team who has had 2 or 3 more hit outs then us going into the grand final, and we still pull their pants down...

Your not gonna loose touch with a week or two off before finals. Get the bye in... (starting to think it's probably just a bit late!)

Exactly right you cant blame a bye on poor form... also I haven't worked on all the possible scenarios which would happen if there was a bye after xmas but from what your saying 1 or 2 clubs would not play much cricket after xmas due to them having their bye... well what if those teams who finished down the bottom last year and for the last few years had there byes in the last 2 rounds b4 the end of the season, whats the problem there? I just think a 7 team comp with a bye is a much better looking comp than an 8 team comp with 2 A grade sides from the one club!

But i know this will just be a once off for this year so we will just have to deal with it!
