The last time Australia Day fell on a Saturday was 2013 and there was no cricket that weekend either

2012/13 was also when they were trialing the 10 teams per grade and we only had 9 rounds as a result.
Not only did we have australia day off, the season started a week later, and finished a week earlier, avoiding likely wash outs.

This year we are playing on the first weekend of October and the last weekend of March, but only playing 2 days of cricket in the 41 days from Dec 23 to Feb 2nd.

if anyone is looking for a new gear this season have a look at this, I can sort you out pricing wise and make sure you aren't paying a stupid amount.

Think the mystery of no 2 day cricket in December/January has been solved. SACA Premier Cricket has 20/20 for all grades. In the interest of the schedules lining up as much as possible ATCA has followed suit.

Here’s some mail around A2 that I’ve heard. Some may be just rumours.

Unley – New coach Tony Adams. Ex player and coach. Hearing they’ve lost their big 4 from last year. Geddes, Fraser retiring, Possibly Carrik-Smith to Adel Rockets (loads of ex AHOS there) and Niblett abandoned them on eve of finals last year.

Wood South – Were in the market for a new coach. Not sure been announced. Best bat L. Hennesey possibly playing lower grades.

Golden Grove – New coach returning Jay Indraratne. Hearing his boys are staying at Ingle Farm (A1) though.

Wood Rech – No real change here from last summer, hearing all their stalwarts going around again. Will be the benchmark. Duffet still coach.

Marion – W Stanborogh coaching again here. Will be solid.

Fulham – New coach James Minagall in his second stint. Bone did his ACL playing footy. Returned to UK. Kyle Adcock new skipper.

Flinders Pk – LO’s gun player Graham Crawford coaching now. Best quick Tom Kennewell was heading to West Torrens, but busted shoulder means he’ll miss all Cricket. Hearing they were in for a return for Doimo from Grange, but think he’s staying put. Luke Crichton possibly retiring.

Trinity – Grapevine doesn’t reach that far. Imagine they’d be very competitive in this comp.

Reynella - Gabb and Colville retired, so plenty of runs to cover there plus a Keeper.

Rostrevor – No mail.

Heccies – Best bat Harper had a kid back in UK late last season, so you’d imagine he’s not returning. Best player Hasith has left club to join start up club Adel Lions in B1. They’ll miss his overs, wickets and runs. Their MVP by a country mile.

Pooraka – Imagine they’d be solid again with loads of depth.

Gee that doesn't sound very promising for Unley. Tony Adams ...... Seriously?

There were a lot of clubs on the lookout for coaches this season, not a lot around.
The difference between the top 5 and the rest will be large this season.
Woody Rech, Rostrevor, Reynella,Marion and Pooraka will be the benchmark.
Woody South will hinge on Hennessy playing.
Heccies and Unley(if above is true) will struggle.
Fulham with no Bone and Low numbers at Pre Season training. Making a score will be a problem.
Flinders Park with lots of young guys, heaps of upside, but bowling is thin.
The 2 teams coming up, 1 usually goes ok, the other will give up after Xmas once they know they are no chance.

There's a saying that you should either get a good coach... or no coach.

Flinders Park have done a lot of recruiting in the off season. Expect half the A grade side to be new to the club and very competitive.

Heard a bit of mail from out north
Trinity: Jace O’hara has rejoined TOS after a few years at district level. Huge inclusion
Para Hills: Jason Mourdant joined from gepps cross, huge loss in a3 for gepps (captain and keeper gone) Might take dad and brother to hills too?
Golden grove: did try their hand at recruiting but not a lot of interest from players they approached. All hope of staying up in a2 rests with Anderson and whitehead
Hope valley: another Pom on their way, no rumours of recruitments
No news on ingle farm, pooraka, modbury, lodge, gepps
