Nah no cricket for me...just watched some B grade today (which was not good results wise for us).

How did you go mate? Bat 11 and keep? ;)

I see the Hornets got rolled for 51 in their second dig vs Pooraka!

Masha did I hear you took over football or cricket at brahma recently?? Spoke to someone who seemed very happy you were in the role.

Pooraka did roll Para Hills for 51, Travis taking 5/23 in second dig. They had lost one of their players mid week to. Shoulder injury, so only had to get 4 wickets yesterday. Dont count para hills out tho. 5 players out one who took 30 wickets last year, they have the comps best spinner and one of the best bats in T Wordsworth. Look for them to bounce back and be in finals come next year.

Yeah mate president for footy next year, have to stand down as c grade coach though due to working commitments.

I heard someone mention pooraka, and he said "the best side ever assembled in Adelaide turf". Big call early in the year, but some impressive names in your first 11! Long season though. Agreed about Travis Wordsworth, a very good bat and will be around the mark with the leading run scorers come season end.

Seems nothing can slow Jamie Sibbick. The mans a machine!

Probably didn't rate him as much as I should have when I was younger. That's changed for sure. And I don't know about that mate.. We are happy with our team this year for sure. Long season and just looking forward to the weekends game at the moment. Was a good way to start the year tho...

PAOC b grade did not like the banter on the weekend from what i saw and also didnt want to play, a little moisture and they complain saying its too wet... (it was a road) a bit sad really, i would have thought being first game you would want to play

Why was there moisture? The weather was perfect.

something happened with the sprinklers the night before, was still better than the week before, and chasing 320 any excuse was used

Not surprising really.
If I were chasing 320 and the opposition watered the pitch before we batted I wouldn't be happy either.

Not the first time this has happened with Trinity either.
I played against you blokes a couple of years ago out there and the school turned on the sub-surface irrigation during the game. About half an hour into our innings the outfield became noticably slower and by the end of the innings you couldn't hit the ball more than 25m along the ground.
Not unsurprisingly, the "issue" was resolved in time for Trinity's innings.

Ah the joys of turf cricket, love it.

If someone leaves the sprinkler system on overnight and the ground is different to normal playing conditions because of this, then they home team should lose the game. Well that's what's meant to happen, ask port districts, they might have a slightly different understanding of the ruling tho.

If the home teams ground has been watered the night before a game then the away team win....It should be that simple. One of my concerns when we came in to turf was this sort of behaviour.
No excuses!!!Make certain the sprinklers are turned off at the controller on fridays ffs! This time of year we normally miss days of cricket because its pelted on or near match day.
So having to bat on a wet pitch when theres no rain around and perfect conditions is B.S.
Away side wins!

Not all clubs have control over the irrigation or even access to the controller unfortunately

Do you guys have neutral ground finals?
If so is there a rule if the sprinklers come on over night?
Who wins? Who is penalised? What penalties?

The ground wasn't wet at all and there was no changes to the pitch as they weren't on all night and was resolved by having the curator down there that morning.. The umpires (one of them being an A1 umpire) looked and had no problem with it what so ever.. I've played on pitches that have been purposely soaked over night and still had to play.
Trinity have no control with the sprinklers etc

First off, the umpires want their cash.
Secondly, surely someone from Trinity cricket team has some dialogue with the curator, regarding the wicket block and its condition.
Thirdly, dont give the opposition any reason for not getting away on time. Ignorance on the way the sprinklers work is no excuse.

Hashy's been quiet this week.
Would be good to get his preview for Rd 2!

Payneham Vs PAOC - Payneham Oval
Gaerth showed great form in Rd 1 with both bat and ball as Payneham did the job easily over Grange, while for PAOC it's a bit hard to tell where they are at after a non-contest against Marion. Always a good game between these two. Game of the round for mine.

Marion Vs Pembroke - Marion Oval #1
Pembroke showed good signs against Goodwood last week despite failing to take home the points. On the other hand Marion will just be happy if they can bat longer than 40 overs.

Goodwood Vs AHOS - Goodwood Oval
Bit of a one man show for Goodwood last round with Cornford scoring over half the runs. The roos wouldn't be happy with allowing Pembroke to bat the full 80 overs either, but still managed to score the W. AHOS were average with the bat and will need to improve if they are going to come close. Having said that, Goodwood is a wonderful ground to bat on and should provide the black hats with a chance.

Brighton Vs Woody Rech - Brighton Oval #1
Back on their home deck this week, will Brighton leave the grass long and set another ring field this year? Probably. This will keep things closer than they should, but Woody Rech will still have too much class and come out on top for mine.

Pulteney OS Vs Grange - Morgan Oval Park 20
Its an interesting scorecard from Pulteney last week, with the two centuries, a 30-odd and then 8 single digit scores. K Pocock is an interesting in for them too, will be interesting to see how he goes this year after giving up the captaincy at Echunga at the end of last season. Pulteney have a good bowling attack, but I'm gonna go for Grange in this one.

Goodwood only made 439, pfft, that's nothing!

  That good bowling attack just conceded 8/456, including J Marsh 7/189 from 31 overs!!!
Most bowlers went for a consistent 6 runs per over, with Ashmead the only one with any sort of economy, at a tad under 2.8 per over. Interesting to not he only bowled the 9.
