PPLions wrote:Today's preview is Wandearah A Grade
Strengths:
Experience. A big Club with lots of off field support. Some genuine quicks in Gillett and Button. Greg Carmody is one of the top three players in the competition. Matt Thornton should be better from, by all (facebook) accounts, scoring a mountain of runs in England. Cody Brooke is one of the better juniors in the competition. Wandies have the benefit of playing many games at Port Oval. Can also use Port oval nets for training sessions. Sensational record against Props in Finals. Well led by Marc Congdon.
Weaknesses:
Arithmetic.
Question marks:
Will Rob Anderson play?
Will Gabe Turci play?
Has Marc Congdon bought a calculator?
Who will step up and support Carmody with the bat?
Will Sunil Cook come across from Solomontown to play under Congdon?
Can Matt Thornton cope with the pressure that his facebook posts have created?
Can this squad rebound from what would have been a disappointing exit from the Finals last season?
Will Wandies be playing matches against Props and Sollies at Port Oval?
Best Grewar medal chance:
Greg Carmody.
This team has an unnamed player similar to this well known cricketer:
Graeme Hick

Do you have evidence that what you are saying is correct or are you just stirring the pot? I am told this is just a normal monthly meeting with other issues to talk about, Port Oval being one. Supposed to be another special meeting to vote on rule changes as well, so why wouldn't they attend. I am interested in what the problems are with the port oval, seems to be a lot of nastiness in that area. Is it serious or a joke between clubs having a friendly go at one another?

There is plenty said here but most of it is in jest!! Most players actually love playing at the port oval and want to play there more which is where the issues start. The rules at the Port Oval are exactly the same as at Memorial and when the choice is playing on Sunday at mem in the a grade or even sat am at Complex 2 or playing at Port, I know what most people want and the clubs know it.
Makes for good forum chat though!

If Port were willing to subsidise the clubs for playing there then maybe everyone would be happy to be there. Surely Port would make a lot more than the $100 the clubs lose out on by the new rule.....
