Risdon arent attending this weeks meeting as they are boycotting the use of Port oval.

Rob Anderson has left Wandearah!

Word has it that there will be for the first time in a longtime risdon will have selection issues with an abundance of players wanting a game.

Wandearah are going to bring back a few older guys to complete a Bgrade side...A lot left last year when they made only one team, with the no double up rule and a few leaving a few old names will appear.

PPLions wrote:Today's preview is Wandearah A Grade
Strengths:
Experience. A big Club with lots of off field support. Some genuine quicks in Gillett and Button. Greg Carmody is one of the top three players in the competition. Matt Thornton should be better from, by all (facebook) accounts, scoring a mountain of runs in England. Cody Brooke is one of the better juniors in the competition. Wandies have the benefit of playing many games at Port Oval. Can also use Port oval nets for training sessions. Sensational record against Props in Finals. Well led by Marc Congdon.
Weaknesses:
Arithmetic.
Question marks:
Will Rob Anderson play?
Will Gabe Turci play?
Has Marc Congdon bought a calculator?
Who will step up and support Carmody with the bat?
Will Sunil Cook come across from Solomontown to play under Congdon?
Can Matt Thornton cope with the pressure that his facebook posts have created?
Can this squad rebound from what would have been a disappointing exit from the Finals last season?
Will Wandies be playing matches against Props and Sollies at Port Oval?
Best Grewar medal chance:
Greg Carmody.
This team has an unnamed player similar to this well known cricketer:
Graeme Hick

Very good! :)

You genuinely have no idea do you, you havent got a clue who is who and think these teams don't want & won't play at Port. Time will tell.
Mind you Sollies in Cricket season and Lions in footy season would leave anyone bitter about sport, when is the last time either team had senior success? When was the last sollies b grade win 15yrs?

Do you have evidence that what you are saying is correct or are you just stirring the pot? I am told this is just a normal monthly meeting with other issues to talk about, Port Oval being one. Supposed to be another special meeting to vote on rule changes as well, so why wouldn't they attend. I am interested in what the problems are with the port oval, seems to be a lot of nastiness in that area. Is it serious or a joke between clubs having a friendly go at one another?

not much news as yet i am told, lots of stories but little officially. Bit odd really this close to the season. Few yarns getting around that it's been changed how they do the clearances and it's been a bit of a stuff up.

There is plenty said here but most of it is in jest!! Most players actually love playing at the port oval and want to play there more which is where the issues start. The rules at the Port Oval are exactly the same as at Memorial and when the choice is playing on Sunday at mem in the a grade or even sat am at Complex 2 or playing at Port, I know what most people want and the clubs know it.

Can you please explain what risdons are going to fire up about or are you guessing again? From what i'm told there are not many that go to these meetings say much at all.One person reports risdon are not going to attend, i think that is very unlikely.

i think a lot of it is good fun. but if clubs are serious they need to discuss this through the right channels, i have written what i have been told and that is it is costing clubs money playing at the port oval. there is no doughting it is a lovely ground but when clubs are struggling what do you expect them to do?

well i can only go on what clubs are saying. time will certainly tell thats for sure. Yes lions have been dissapointing and so have solomontown in both cricket and football. Although i dont think us or solomontown will have to wait 27 years like the port footy club had too? well i hope not. dont know what you mean by dont know who is who? think that must be a miss print or you have had a big weekend?

any new cricket news today??

Rob Anderson has signed with Risdon.
Its Hutchy's Hamburger night at the risdon so please everyone head down tonight for a great feed.
And we'll have to agree to disagree on whether Memorial Oval is the best place to play cricket in Port Pirie. I, and I think you will find many others, prefer to play at Port. The grass is just far too long at Memorial. My snicks between 1st and 2nd slip run for four at port but only bring one at Memorial.

I think you will find most if not all players enjoy playing at Port oval more, it is more the behind the scenes people that have a problem with the oval as it is costing the clubs revenue, which they have little of already. If Port were willing to subsidise the clubs for playing there then maybe everyone would be happy to be there. Surely Port would make a lot more than the $100 the clubs lose out on by the new rule.....

i can see your point and i also enjoy playing cricket at port but i like many others are thinking more about the sustainability of clubs in port pirie cricket rather than the outfield surface. The memorial is the home of senior cricket and football in the town and i hope it always will be as do many others in the town. the pitches when the clubs do the required amount of work are second to none and last season i seen many a batsmen and even some who think they are hit boundaries all around the ground so i think that is a very poor excuse. The surrounds around the memorial are a lot better with a heap of grassed areas where you can throw your esky and chairs. lots of shaded areas so the kids can play with there bat, ball and toys and parents can keep an eye on them. Again this is my opinion only although i do know many others think the same. It is a good day out watching cricket at memorial oval and i dont care what anyone says and i also like to play at port thats a no brainer.lets hope the powers to be can sort something out that benefits everybody.
