Interesting Choice, any reasons behind the decision or totally out of the blue?

Dont think its half as bad as you are making it.
Few seasons ago these 2 were co captains, both are good friends and bleed black and white.
Probably a good thing weeksy isnt captain anymore simply as it will allow him to concentrate on his game more and get the best out of his body.
Either way he will still be on the field saturdays and as most good captains do will liaise with other senior players on the field.

How did the trial go on the weekend FS?

Trials were good, we got what we wanted out of them. Ports won both, A grade trial by 1 wicket and Bs by 2 wickets I think.

Was our first time outside after being indoors all pre season. Ports found a handy young lad from around the Mildura area. Allrounder and goes well, think he is only 16.

Browny's timed that injury well, he can sooth it with a beer while watching the AFL grand final instead of sweating like a pig up in Darwin ;)

Could also put his FC spot in jeopardy? Has the Ryobi to recover but with a break like that I don't think he could be back in time....

Yeah in all seriousness, very poor timing for him. I wouldnt be suprised to see Brenton McDonald get a gig at some stage, apparently done all pre season with the SACAs

Does anyone know how the grade clubs in general treat their byes? Do they encourage their players to go back to their grass roots club and does SACA have an opinion on the matter?

Dont think SACA has an opinion on it Days.

Up to the players, blokes who have played at grade clubs for years normally loose touch a bit with their community club (if they had one in the first place), some of the younger ones who play U17s on Sundays for their community club may put up their hand to play. Many of the older blokes enjoy a weekend off or have to play on the sunday in the shorter versions.

Up to the individual, most don't even have any attachment to their local clubs. I know ATCA have a rule that restrict the amount of dual registered players per team.

Its more relevant to the younger lads in regards to playing back at their CC. We encourage our Juniors to play for their CC if they wish to, and im pretty sure your Jnr coach does as well heater.

Yeah but Juniors don't have byes.....Kids can play many hours of cricket, I for one as a kid would play up to 110 overs in a day (u/16 30 overs per side, then local A grade 50 overs per side)

I have done it a couple of times for a community club because I spent a season with them (when I had a disagreement with my Grade Coach) and as a result I still keep in touch with a lot of the players there. However, it is difficult to get the two competition's programs to align and I know last year and this season I can't (Getting to the point where I can't either as the body begins to fall apart  )

Thanks for the feedback.
I had heard SACA were going to make them play for someone on their bye.
As one of you said though ATCA has rules against it and so do we in the B&L. No problems with players with dual rego returning to their junior club. But someone that has never played for a club is not allowed to play unless they get a clearance.
I have looked at the grade draw and see Jets have a bye in the last game of the season. I imagine they will want everyone to have a game somewhere if they are in the finals.
If my country club was in the finals i wouldnt want a Jets player coming in and disrupting my team. I can guarentee there will be problems caused in the B&L with Jets having last game bye.

Trial Match: Sturt DCC 163 def WTDCC 158
After being in a winning position 4/130 after 38 overs, WT collapsed to be all out 158.
Not a bad effort from the Eagles but should have really won from there, even with only 1 regular A-grader from last year compared to Sturt who had 5.
Good hit out for all involved by all reports.

Perfect day for cricket :)

Few good match ups. Bays v Peckers, Jets v Gullies, Browns v Eagles.

Interesting with premier league / Redbacks taking a few pkayers. Glenelg have 8 out with a bunch on debut. Patrick Page 15yo on debut. One to watch.

I hope No.12 for Adelaide was a fill in for someone not available.
Batted about 6. That was not a grade standard.
Maybe he's a bowler.
