Anyone know what happened between Payneham and Unley in Rd 4? Both teams were docked a point due to player reports?

Friday 40, Saturday 41, Sunday 40.

Is it just me or is the wording on the heat policy a little unclear?
There is the statement up the top that says all games off at 42+, however later on there is the following statement:
If the match was played under normal conditions on day 1 and the heat policy is enacted on day 2 then conditions of play will remain but there will be no second innings with stumps being drawn at the conclusion of the second teams first innings. Common sense will need to apply as it relates to over rates and strict observance of the scheduled finish time.

I believe what they are trying to say is if the side batting on day 1 got their full 80 overs, then the 2nd side also gets 80, however, given the way it's written, some people could interpret that to mean the 42+ rule doesn't come in, and we play no matter how hot the forecast is.

I suspect 42+ all off will be the ruling, but the wording of the above is something the turf need to look at.

If the forecast does land at 40 or 41, there will be a few disappointed sides!
In A1 for example, Pembroke lost on day 1, and would have like the opportunity to try and set up a game on day 2, however their opponents will now be forced to bat the day rather than chase an outright. Pembroke will now likely spend a large chunk on the day in the field with no incentive of getting a bat should they collect the remaining wickets.

Brighton and Payneham who both completed their first innings on day 1 will be put right behind the 8-ball, missing out on 80 overs worth of bonus points, where as if the forecast creeps up to 42, they'll be loving it, picking up the full match points while other teams settle for the draw.

I think the Heat Policy is pretty clear. It is activated when the forecast temperature is 40 or higher. At this stage the forecast temperature for this Saturday is 41, which means the Heat Policy is activated. All B Grade, Crade and Limited Overs game will be called off. A1 to A4 games will proceed under the same playing conditions, except the game will be called off at the completion of both team's first innings.
If the forecast goes to 42 then all games will be called off.
Under the ATCA Heat Policy, the interesting one is the A1 game between Brighton and Payneham. Both teams were bowled out last Saturday, so the first innings has been completed. If the ATCA Heat Policy is activated this game will not get away on Saturday

Do the ATCA follow what the SACA say? Week 1 of a new round this week for SACA and at this stage I think all SACA C & D grade could be in jeopardy....

No. ATCA have their own Heat Policy. It is black and white. Heat Policy implemented at 40 degrees. All games called off at 42 degrees

What do we all think about the senior heat policy?

Personally i think A's and B's should play, just have more drink breaks.
C's and D's i'm not so sure.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately it's an OH&S decision these days. Not a cricket one.
Turf can't be seen to have a "play no matter what the temp" rule and have something go wrong.
42 is high enough at A1-A4 to ensure it shouldn't happen very often.

What weather report do we work off?
I heard last night that it was BOM website at 4:30pm on the friday, but hearing a decision wont be made until 9am tomorrow does that mean we work off something else? Or just the BOM website report at 9am?

The bylaw is what BOM is saying as at 9am on Saturday morning.
The BOM put out the forecast at roughly 5:20am, so you should be able to check then. Having said that, every now and then the do update their forecasts, though this is rare.

Interesting to see the Turf have called B1-LOF already.

I can't see anything on ATCA website about this, but it makes sense to call B1-LOF early. Forecast is clearly not going to drop below 40. Strange they don't wait until the BOM update their forecast at 4.00pm this afternoon though.

42º

I think the fact that SACA moved 1st and canned the C, D and juniors helped the early call on the lower grades

Anyone else slightly concerned they are going to drop tomorrow's forecast back to 41 tomorrow morning given so far today has only reached 37 compared to the forecast 40?

It is what it is but why wouldnt they announce it based on the 4.10pm forecast and actually give people a bit of notice.

Because clearly we are all cricket tragics with nothing better to do than wait for the 9:01am txt message from the club secretary.

Because the forecast might change?

People play the rain card all the time. Just play the heat card. It's a gamble but that's all part of the fun.
